Our group included my Mother (83), myself and husband, our three daughters (35, 33, 30) and our two grandchildren (3 & 1). We were so excited when we saw the villa with it's wide open common area, fantastic wrap around terrace with spectacular views both sunny and sunset, the perfect set up so that everyone had their private space and the great little pool. The house had everything we could have wanted and the staff, Sharon, Jermain and Elvis, the chef couldn't have been friendlier or more accommodating. Jermain became part of the family, watching cartoons with the kids, learning new games with us or just sharing an early morning coffee. Sharon kept the place spotless and was so sweet with all of us, especially our grandson, Ben. Elvis was a miracle worker. He seemed to be able to use anything he could find in the cupboard or fridge to create delicious and beautifully presented meals. Sharon brought us freshly caught fish and lobster , bought early in the morning from the returning fishermen.
Some things you should know when renting this villa:
1. The beach that we went to every day was called Sand-Sand beach and it was not one of the beaches listed on the information provided by the villa. You could walk there in about 25 minutes but we took a taxi there and back. We definately overpaid for the taxi ($50.00 there and back but it was a 7 minutes cab ride at most). Go there but ask Sharon to get a taxi for you. The beach is part of the Sandals Whitehouse beach and it is deserted and gorgeous.
2. Walking to town was possible if you are quite fit. There is nothing much in town except some bars and a convenience store. The walk back up the hill is quite strenuous.
3. Everything you could possibly need was supplied with the villa but we did find that the coffee maker took 20 minutes to brew a pot of coffee and the four slice toaster was broken. There was not one sharp knife or paring knife in the drawer. When we arrived the 2nd fridge wasn't working but once we told Marcia, the property manager it was fixed later that day.
4. The ride from Montego Bay airport is very rough and takes 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Micheal, our driver was really great and even bought us some jerk chicken from a road stand that he said was the best in the area. My daughters had both brought car seats from home but the van had no seat belts so the car seats were useless and we felt a little nervous of the bad roads and crazy drivers with no one strapped in.
