Excellent choice

Fattoria l Ciliegi is a wonderful 16-acre vacation rental in the heart of Tuscany. Run a Wisconsin native and his Italian wife, the farm is a quiet retreat from which you can easily get to all the big name tourist spots, but far enough off the beaten track to give you a quiet home base from which to explore the heart of Italy at your own pace. From the farm, it is an easy drive to Florence, Pisa, Venice, Rome and all they offer. If driving is not your thing, you can catch a high speed train in nearby Figline Valdarno and be in Florence in 30 minutes, or Rome in two and a half hours. Fattoria l Ciliegi is spotlessly clean, comfortable and homelike. Our 2-bedroom apartment had two full baths, a kitchen and a private entrance. We did not get in the pretty swimming pool, but did enjoy relaxing at pool side. Neither did we try out the tennis court. Fattoria l Ciliegi translates to the Cherry Farm, and the grounds are lush with fruit trees, roses and a herb garden. Our hosts are great cooks. They made us the best meals of our entire 2-week trip. They are wonderfully warm, helpful hosts. I would go back in a heartbeat. If, however, you are someone who likes to step out of the hotel into the heart of tourist central, Fattoria l Ciliegi is not for you. Nor is it for you if you are allergic to animals since numerous family pets have the run of the grounds. We would go back in a heartbeat!

The Villa exceeded all of our expectations

5 of 5
Bottom line, this villa exceeded all of our expectations. The description was extremely accurate. And I can vouch that the villa has wifi internet. Our group consisted of 7 adults and all were extremely comfortable. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and allowed us to cook many meals easily. The bedrooms and bathrooms had sufficient bedding and towels. Exceptionally large pool towels were also provided. The property allows exceptional and breath taking views of the Figline Valdarno valley. We felt the property was perfectly located. We could reach the grocery store Co-op easily and downtown Figline within minutes. The express train to Florence was easy to catch from downtown Figline. We highly recommend this property. As the description states, it exceeded all of our expectations and I am confident you will not be disappointed.

Guestbook Comment

We could not have been more fortunate in selecting Villa Maria as the facility for our home during our Italy retreat. Where do you begin in describing how great a location and facility Villa Maria offered to our group of twelve. The entire Villa was beautiful, clean, comfortable and accomodating for all of us. When you look at the pictures of Villa Maria, what you can't see are the sounds and views of the sunrise and sunsets over the valley and adjacent mountain range. The Villa is so accomodating for relaxing inside in the living room, outside at the covered patio table or down by the pool. The Villa was always comfortably cool, like being airconditioned, even though it was not airconditioned. The Villa enticed one into complete relaxation. Given our limited time in Italy, we seemed to always be on the go, however, when we arrived back at the Villa we were ready to relax and enjoy the accomodations. We had Donato cook three different evenings and the meals were always excellent. We ate out at several restaurants in the area that were all excellent. I wonder when you are in such a great location, can you really find anything not perfect? Marco and Serena were very accomodating and great to deal with. Marco went out of his way to provide recommendations regarding dining out and suggestions regarding the surrounding area. Many thanks to Marco and Serena for making this great estate available for our vacation. The initial directions to Villa Maria created some challenge in finding Villa Maria, however, once we became acquainted with the area, getting to surrounding towns by car or train was convenient. Driving at night was not so bad because you had the headlights that let one see the oncoming traffic or close roadside walls. Once we were accustomed to the tight driving roads of Italy, driving became more of an adventure.
