All of Central Tuscany within 45 minutes

5 of 5
Michael (Momo) is the gracious host to his family's retreat of over 40 years. He knows the area and is well versed on the history of Montisi and the surrounding Tuscan hill country. Just ask him and he can give you suggestions on towns to visit and things to do while in Tuscany (winery visits, a dip in the hot springs, bicycle tours, cooking classes, etc.). We all enjoyed Momo's hospitality, advice and recommendations during our early October 2014 visit. This comfortable and historic restored farm house "villa" is located close to the town of Montisi, a quiet centrally located village and a great escape from the more tourist-laden hill towns nearby. With three bedrooms, three full baths and three large gathering rooms, it is ideal for extended families and friends to enjoy the Tuscan countryside together. Our group of 5 from across the U.S. (mom and dad, daughter and husband, and other daughter) had space to enjoy time together yet also get away for a quiet moment to relax. The farmhouse has WiFi to check on email or plan the next day, with a fully supplied kitchen and laundry (the dryer is the outdoors, "Under the Tuscan Sun"). From this "base-camp", our family enjoyed side trips to the hill towns including Arezzo, Cortona, Montepulcino, Montalcino and Pienza (Siena is also close by, though we chose not to visit). We wandered through a large antique fair in Arezzo, took a tour of a "Brunello" winery near Montalcino, had a cooking class in Cortona, and scoured the hill towns for history, shopping (art, wine and cheese) and great photos. And oh, the views. The incredible beauty of the Val d'Orcia region presents the postcard images of rolling hills, endless grain fields, and those winding roads flanked by Tuscan Cypress Trees we had all wanted to experience. We recommend this property and Momo's hospitality for your own get-away to Tuscany.

Entirely Charming and Peaceful

4 of 5
We enjoyed a lovely week at Casa di Pietro; it was just the quiet, rural experience that we sought. Booking information was prompt and helpful. The casa was very charming, and the outdoor space was exceptional. The beds were comfortable and the linens of very good quality. Plenty of hot water for everyone in the morning. There were a few restaurants within a reasonable walking distance; we enjoyed cooking in the well appointed kitchen.

The perfect Tuscan hideaway.

5 of 5
We spent 4 days in this beautiful Tuscan renewed farmer's house and we loved our stay with no exceptions. Casanova is inside a huge private estate (just a few minutes drive from Montalcino, Siena, Pienza and San Quirico d'Orcia), far from the main road so that you can enjoy all the peace that surrounds the house. The house is very comfortable, with big rooms, clean bathrooms, a nice kitchen with a large dining table and a living room with a big fireplace. But the garden outside, facing the Tuscan hills and Montalcino, is the real masterpiece of the property. We have been pampered since we arrived (a complimentary welcome basket with cheese, local products and a bottle of the house wine Castelnuovo Tancredi waited for us). We had the house wine tasting at the cellars and relaxing walks all around the estate. Thank you Violante for our perfect stay. Hope to be back soon.
