We rented Casale Fornaci for 8 nights for a family holiday of 3 generations (6 adults and a 10 month old) and would thoroughly recommend staying here. The house is in a beautiful location and presented to a very high standard.
On arrival, the welcome hamper was comprehensive with enough supplies to keep us going for an evening meal and breakfast (and beyond) without having to worry about finding a supermarket on our day of arrival. The instructions given in locating the house were very useful and Barbara, who was managing the house for Filippo, gave us a very warm welcome and was very helpful throughout our stay.
The kitchen is well equipped for cooking for a family. There's a gas cooker, a traditional Tuscan open fire place, a BBQ and a pizza oven to choose from. There is plenty of space to all sit together to relax or eat in the open plan kitchen / living room but equally enough space for quiet time from the rest of your party if you wish, for example in the beautiful private garden, in the court yard, on the veranda or in the additional sitting room downstairs. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable and the 3 bathrooms in the main house were very clean.
Barbara was very prepared in anticipating our arrival: organising a baby cot, baby monitor and bringing along a baby bath when it became available (all the bathrooms contain showers).
The pool wasn't open when we stayed but it's in a great spot, close to the house, that would be lovely in the summer months.
The location is great for day trips to Sienna, Florence, Arezzo and into the Chianti towns. A useful folder at the house suggests day trips that can easily be done from the house. A car is definitely recommended for a holiday at this property - it is located a 3 minute drive down an unsealed road - but it really is a beautiful secluded spot surrounded by woodland. There is a good sized supermarket in Castelnuovo Berardenga (approx 10 minutes drive). A couple of local highlights for us included wine tasting just a few minutes drive away on the estate that the house is located on (discounted for people staying on the estate), and a meal for a special occasion at La Bottega del 30, a Michelin starred Restaurant, close by in Villa a Sesta.
We felt that overall this was a very relaxing and easy holiday with excellent communication, organisation and prompt replies from Filippo and Barbara both before and during the holiday.
