Silvio was quite the host. He met us at the airport and took us to the apartment, showing us sights along the way and where we could do our local grocery shopping. The apartment was stocked with groceries and all the essentials for getting started. Air conditioning, washing machine and all the advertised amenities were in working order. Maps, tourist literature and restaurant recommendations were in abundance. The apartment location near one of the city gates made it easy to walk or bus to any attraction or dining place in or around the center. Silvio even provided our first multi-ride bus ticket. Not only did we see Bologna from the inside out and taste the culinary treats of the city and region, but we also used the easy access to the train station for our trips to Florence, Modena, Parma and Venice. After two weeks, when we decided to take up Silvio's original offer to arrange a taxi for us he insisted on driving us back to the airport himself. He is a wonderful gentleman and a landlord you can depend on.
