              WITH VIEWS TO KILL FOR.

              5 of 5
Two grown ups and four grown up "kids" (22-28) spent a fantastic week in what we came to call Villa Casalbordino. We must have been amongst the first guests since everything was new. Even the lawn seemed recently rolled out towards the pool, which we understood is technically and officially a "tub" to the local authorities, but to us still and definitely a pool. The house sits on one of the many rolling hills in this part of Abruzzo. Top of the hill means stunning views over vineyards, endless olive groves, valleys and neighbouring hills, all the way over to the snow peaked (early June) mountains of Maiella. The house is generously spacey, even for six people; a generous living room/kitchen combined with a ceiling high enough for thinking really big thoughts. The likewise generous balcony outside the master bedroom is the place to finish your pre dinner Campari soda or Aperol as the sun sets over the Maiella mountains. The garden is still waiting to grow into a lush hideaway, but to be honest, with the olive trees so close by and with the stunning views we never really gave it a thought. The patio with its big table is perfect for outdoor lunch and dinners and the kitchen is wisely placed in that end of the house. During our week we experienced hardly any wind, which prolonged our evenings well over midnight. In terms of comfort level, the house has more or less everything: dishwasher, washing machine, big gas grill, fridge/freezer, etc, etc. We missed nothing! Suroundings? Wow! With a little driving, everything is "around the corner". We found "our" food supplier in Casalbordino, with all the stuff you could ever want; from the buffalo mozzarella to fresh fish, squids, sepias and great fresh bread to. Took some 15 minutes to go there. Restaurants are down in Vasto – we tried Villa Vignola, L'Angolo di Giada, Castello Aragona, Trabocco Cungarelle (on an old wooden fishing platform right above the water). All great, all well worth the money and all with sea views and/or views over the part of Vasto that's close to the beach. Up there on top of our list is the beach we found in the Nature Reserve of Punta Aderci. If you like solitude (or close to it) go there! But bring food and water! There are no bars, no ristorantes. Just you and the Adriatic. All in all, would I recommend "Completely Rebuilt Farmhouse with pool"? Definitely, with no maybe!

VERY NICE HOUSE WITH SPECTACULAR VIEW

              4 of 5
Lovely house and wonderful surroundings. A bit hard to get the car down to the house but we managed. The house was very clean and tidy, one of the neighbors who welcomed us and gave us the key got to be such a help with finding restaurants and doing true italian things. We some minor problems with the house but everything was solved during our stay and Gunilla always helped us when we called, or Karen & Dave. We didn´t know that it would be quite as far to restaurants and places to visit when we got there. You can walk up to Palmoli but it´s very steep and you walk mostly in the forrest. The surroundings was just wonderful and when you wake up in the morning and look out at the valley you just loose your breath. Vasto was a really nice town where we went quite a few times. There is also an absolutely amazing fish restaurant between Montefalcone and Montemitro. You just HAVE to go there the food is awesome. We had never learned so much about Italy and the surroundings is it hadn´t been for the truly wonderful neighbors K & D. The house was really nice and the pool was useful in the sunny days. We stayed for 4 weeks so we really got to test the house and we have made some suggestions to Gunilla but in all we had a marvelous time!
