The most magical gem of Sicily!

        5 of 5
We stayed at the olive mill for two weeks and the stunning scenery and accommodation was so serene and relaxing that we could not believe how quickly two lovely lazy weeks went!! The photos do not do this beautiful house justice - it is certainly more impressive in reality - full of the most wonderful quirky touches, the old armoir full of gorgeous Scillian pottery; the old hanging iron cooking pots, the beautiful hand built outdoor BBQ and the quaint little niches, hidey holes and furniture all add to the incredible uniqueness of this place! The pool is truly heavenly, large enough to have a good swim in and the views from the terrace never failed to disappoint - we whiled away many a contented hour gazing at the lake, the skies, the mountains and even the stars!! Cooking in this house was a true delight, every need was catered for and to use such gorgeous crockery made our al fresco meals a joy every time! Better still was the generosity of the hosts Paul and David who let us pick fresh tomatoes peppers lettuce plums and herbs - plenty of basil - that really added to the whole experience of living off the land! Nothing was too much trouble for these lovely hosts, teaching us Sicilian so we could buy meat from the butcher they recommended, drawing us maps to get to new places and our evening out to Palermo with their gracious friends was one of the highlights of the holiday - so much so that we hope to return to the city in the future, meeting up with our hosts of course! This place is a gem, off the beaten track - yes you really do need a car and a strong heart for the breathtaking journey up and down the mountains - a place where you can truly relax and forget about the real world! It is hidden enough away to feel you have escaped but perfectly placed to explore Sicily - the local town is totally unspoilt and the town of Cefalu with its stunning beach and warm blue sea, gorgeous cobbled streets and quaint shops was the perfect place to meander, grabbing a pizza and gorgeous Sicilian wine! Would we return? Without a doubt! The best holiday ever! Thank you Paul and David from Gavin, Dee, Robyn, Aleks, Liberty and Annais
