Perfect.

Villa Oliver is a private mini-villa with all the details of a boutique hotel. The house and views are exactly as you see them and Oliver and Lela are exactly as everyone before me has written -- delightful, thoughtful hosts who are there when you need them and not when you don't. It's obvious they listen to their guests to make the villa even more enjoyable. Thoughtful touches such as providing a big bottle of olive oil, salt, pepper, pasta, coffee, tea, crackers, cookies, yoghurt, butter, jam and bread in the kitchen were great but just as appreciated was being able to pick tomatoes, eggplant, lemons and basil from the garden. Oliver asked us if there was anything he could do to make the villa better and honestly anything we could come up with would be a stretch -- the best suggestion we have would be a sharper knife to cut the delicious garden tomatoes (and if he decides not to follow the suggestion, no problem -- just eat them whole). The location of the villa is practically perfect -- between two charming towns (Minori and Atrani) but far enough away from the tourist bustle to feel like you're truly living there. After the first day we loved the slightly scary but generally pretty easy walks along the road to the beach or to dinner -- it felt normal by the end. And without a doubt, our day cruise on Oliver's boat where we swam and sunned and snacked with great joy, was worth every Euro so if you have the funds and the time, don't miss it. Lastly, we also loved Fifi the Villa Cat who obviously knows her role in twisting everyone around her little black fluffy paw. Can't wait to go back.

Just Do It!

Villa Mirabella is a wonderful, magical place, perfect for families and friends. Located in Conca Dei Marini, it is off the beaten path of the Amalfi coast, so it is quieter, more informal and more "authentic" than some of the region's better-known destinations. Still, it is an easy hop to Amalfi, Positano, Ravello, etc. The accommodations are beautiful -- spotless, artfully decorated and spacious enough for a group of 14. Each room has its own entrance and bath and TV. The main house has two refrigerators, dishwasher, microwave in a charming kitchen. We made meals for 14, buying provisions from the small market down the hill and from the lovely butcher whose store is 20m from the villa entrance. Photos don't do justice to the beauty of the view. From the pool, from the dining patio, from the gazebo, you can see the beautiful sea and watch ships, ferries and yachts, and you can also see Capri. What truly sets Villa Mirabella apart is the love you will feel from the owners, Miriam and Antonio, whose friendly, excellent restaurant is, conveniently, just down the hill. No request is to large or small. Need transportation to Amalfi, Positano, Pompeii, Naples? Done. Want an outdoor massage overlooking the sea? No problem. A boat to ferry you and your party to Capri? No sweat. A pizza-making lesson at the restaurant, led by the wonderful chef Fiore? Done. Miriam and Antonio became our friends, our family. And did I mention that there's a turf soccer field above the restaurant where the kids can play or pick up a game? Oh yeah, there's also a wonderful, funky beach club down the hill for swimming, sunning, dining and pretending you're one of the locals or Neapolitians out for the weekend. Convinced? I hope so.

Sero Family Vacation

5 of 5
The Villa San Croce was beautiful.. We looked at it on line and were very impressed. However once we got there it was obvious that the pictures were taken many years ago. Not a problem, but I noticed the aging of the Villa. Our children and their spouses really enjoyed the pool area, weather permitting. We were in walking distance of two restaurants, which was very handy the first few days when we didn't have a car. I enjoyed the space of the villa, everyone could have some privacy, or just be alone under the blue sky.
