We stayed at this property the first week of May 2014. The provided pictures accurately depict the property and its furnishings. It is not a stand alone villa, but more in the nature of a portion of a larger premises (it is a little hard to describe, as a calling it an apartment is not quite accurate either). In any event, it gives the place an “ authentic” local feel. As stated in the description, there is a private patio area as well as balconies off the main bedroom and living room. The views are stunning and will take your breath away. The third bedroom is separated from the main quarters, 10 or 15 steps down with a separate entrance.
As clearly stated, the property is not suitable for anyone who has difficulty with steps (102 of them). However, I am over 60 and had no problems whatsoever with them. The GAS Bar is located at the bottom of the steps, where you can buy tickets and take the bus to town. There is a roof top restaurant at the GAS Bar which has good casual food. The roof top views at the restaurant rival any in town.
We walked to town. It is about a 20 to 30 minute downhill walk. Probably faster if you don’t frequently stop to take pictures or take in the view. You do have to walk on the side of the road in several areas where there is no walkway. This was not an issue, although I would not do the walk in the dark even though we did see others on the road after dark. When you come to the first tunnel, veer to the walkway on the right and you will come to steps that will lead you right to Amalfi’s waterfront. We took taxis back (the uphill walk would undoubtedly be harder). For 5 people the taxi cost was usually Euros 15.
Since this was our first visit to the area, we were out most of the time. I wish we could have spent more time just sitting on the patio drinking limoncello and taking in those beautiful views. Next time! I would happily return to this property again.
