The Lisheen Castle was an unforgettable part of our trip to Ireland. It has been restored with the beauty of the past, while providing the comforts of our modern day. Every room has lovely furniture and bedding, and all but one have their own bathroom. There was always enough hot water and although I was warned in advance by others who have stayed in cold European castles, this castle always had a comfortable temperature. Because it is set in the countryside, this castle also provides a quiet atmosphere for a good night’s rest. It was a busy week of driving from place to place, but it was always nice to come back to the castle in the evenings. We started to refer to the castle as “home” while we were out and about discussing whether we were ready to go “home” from our day of touring. Zane was a wonderful host and his son made quick friends with our son when he visited the castle grounds. We highly recommend Lisheen Castle!!

Seventeen of us arrived at Bansha Castle on August 3 for a week-long stay. The owners, John and Teresa, were ready for us and welcomed us with a tour and important contact information. The Castle is great and exactly as portrayed in all information sheets! It is well maintained and clean. While it is in the countryside, nothing is too far away... and our hosts were always available if we had any questions. The Castle bedrooms are well appointed and comfortable and many of the common rooms are especially inviting. The kitchen is modern and stocked with whatever utensils one might need. And the outside patio was particularly outstanding. Some of us sat there at least once a day and in fact we used it twice for a BBQ. The Castle is nicely located to many of Ireland's important sites, including Cahir and the Rock of Cashell. It is also less than a 2 hour drive to the Cliffs of Moher and the Ring of Kerry. And, most importantly, there is a delightful local pub within walking distance to the Castle. Bansha Castle is a great vacation spot. It easily accommodated our group of 17. We highly recommend it to anyone who would like to see Ireland up close and personal.
