Peaceful home base for touring Killarney area

5 of 5
Though we are only one couple, this house was perfect as a home base for our week touring the Ring of Kerry and the Dingle Peninsula. And being just outside the city, only about a ten-minute drive, it was a peaceful place to return after long days of sightseeing. The views from the master bedroom and the living/dining area are stunning, and we spent all our eating and reading time sitting by the windows watching the changing weather, mountains appearing and disappearing, clouds floating in over the lake, birds and bunnies hopping around on the lawn. Patrick couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful (as was his computer-savvy daughter), and when the promised wi-fi didn’t materialize, they went out of their way to get us a portable device which worked perfectly. And they live right next door, so any questions were quickly and easily answered. This would also be a great place for a larger group, with its four bedrooms and three baths plus huge kitchen with eating area. But it was a pleasant respite for just the two of us, and we would return again if our travels bring us near Killarney.

A fine spot

5 of 5
I have stayed at this listing many times - and every time is a joy. The views are the best part - I never tire of watching the Blasket Islands. Scenery is dramatic and lovely. Upkeep is great, and the neighbors are a treasure. The local pub is just a short walk accross a field, where Irish music from local musicians is a regular occurrence. A great launch point for day trips around the pennisula, or into DIngle for shops, pubs and restaurants. We have visited in Decemver, May and June - all good times to go (but you never know what Irish weather will be.) We love the kitchen and the fireplace, as well as the smell of burning peat.
