Fabulous Accommodation!

5 of 5
I travelled with my husband, brother, and cousins (7 people in our party) to West Clare, Ireland in Aug. 2014. We had the great pleasure of staying at Doonbeg River House in Kilmihil for a week and it was the perfect base for exploring County Clare. The house is removed from the town centre, which makes for peaceful, beautiful, pastoral surroundings, but close enough to make trips into Kilmihil and nearby towns easy. The house is exceptionally clean and well-maintained, with plenty of towels and bedding. It is bright, airy and spacious and is decorated in a lovely way. There are 2 full bathrooms (one with soaker tub and separate shower, and a 2nd one with shower) in the main house and another full bathroom (with shower) in the Poet's Lodge accommodation just a step across the driveway. The Poet's Lodge was a great place for one of my cousins who liked to retire early and rise very early and was able to do so without disturbing others in our party. The house is thoroughly modern, with excellent water pressure and includes all dishes, pots, cutlery, televisions, free Wi-Fi, printer, etc. There is even a selection of books and movies for those evenings when you may choose to stay in. The main living area (kitchen, dining room, and living room) is open concept and very bright. The kitchen is well-equipped with coffee makers, kettle, dishwasher, stove/oven, and fridge. Bedrooms are roomy and very comfortable. The views from the back of the house (and the kitchen window) are lovely. The gardens are beautiful and well-kept and are a relaxing place to sit in the morning with coffee or in the evening with a glass of wine. Marian, the local property manager, is a wonderful person to deal with and was extremely helpful in every way. She even went out of her way to assist when one of our bags was delayed by the airline and had to be delivered by courier to the house. There was a vase of fresh flowers waiting when we first arrived--a lovely welcome! I would highly recommend Doonbeg River House to anyone looking for accommodation in the West Clare area. It is particularly well suited to larger parties. All in our party look forward to a return visit to this beautiful house.

Beautifully decorated, stunning views of the sea

5 of 5
Fanore lodge is a beautifully decorated house with stunning views of the surrounding burren landscape and the wild Atlantic coast. It is very close to Fanore beach and not too far away from the local pub where you can hear some great trad. sessions whilst enjoying a pint of guinness and delicious fresh fish and chips. Yum! The house has everything you could possibly need - beach towels, buckets and spades, body boards for doing a bit of surfing! A fantastic gas barbecue, great big outdoor table, lots of candles, comfy couches in the sitting room, open fire, tonnes of books, fully equipped kitchen (even everything you need for baking a cake!), great picnic basket for taking to the beach - it has everything! The house is also perfectly located for setting off on some of the burren walks. Geraldine makes you feel very welcome with a lovely bit of smoked salmon waiting for you in the fridge, fresh brown soda bread, a pot of jam, milk, butter and some lovely teas. We'll definitely be thinking of coming back again.

Great Irish Cottage!

5 of 5
This cottage and it's owner were great. The cottage is very well maintained and so rookie. We had a terrific time in this place, loved it's proximity to the beach, and to many fun destinations (cliffs of moher, the burren, And golf). Would recommend this place for families or large groups!
