This former church was a private residence until recently, when the owners moved to another historic property that they are renovating. It feels as though they had just stepped out the door; furnishings are a mix of antique and contemporary, and we agreed that we felt very much at home.
Everything was immaculate and yet very personal. The quilts are beautiful, the sense of history pervasive...but we also enjoyed the Wi-Fi and the dishwasher! About 1800 square feet, there is a bedroom and bath on the main floor as well as living room, full kitchen, and laundry equipment. I scored the gigantic loft bedroom with king-sized bed and its own bath with shower.
We selected this rental, in part, because they allow pets. When we stepped into the house, we were disbelieving; it's much nicer than any other pet-friendly property we've found (and we've stayed in a lot of them).
If you are seeking a peaceful, relaxing vacation, 'The Church' is perfect. For information about what to do when you are ready to move away from the patio, check out the Villages of Van Buren website. Lots of quaint shops, antiques, crafts, a potter, and some great parks for walking around or a picnic. The owners provided a variety of helpful brochures, and were willing to take the time to tell us more about attractions and the history of the area.
