Villa Banyan in the northern coast of Bali is an extraordinary vacation experience. Our family of five stayed for one week and had the most peaceful, relaxing, beautiful vacation imaginable. The house itself is exceptional--and brand new. No expense has been spared anywhere--quality towels and bedding, gorgeous pool furniture and dining areas, beautifully crafted teak doors and beds. The wifi and AC work very well everywhere.
But more important than the furnishings and luxurious baths and toiletries (hand blended for house guests) is the overall experience. There is a staff of helpful, caring, professional people attending to your every need. The driver, Komang, is a gem. He picked us up (in the house's brand-new, luxury van) from Amed in the east coast of Bali and brought us to this marvelous spot. He then invited us to a ceremony at the temple next door with his familiy, even bringing his wife's and kids' sarongs for us to wear. We attended with him and met the families of other staff from the house as well. It was an unforgettable experience.
There is also a house manager, a cook, a butler and others who make the stay as luxurious as a five-star hotel.
The views all around the property are just serene: rice paddies like emerald fields stretching out to the ocean beyond. From the house you can walk down to the ocean to a black sand but swimmable, calm beach where there is also a diving school. But really you'll probably just stay at the house and lounge around one of the most beautiful pools I've ever seen: 3 levels from shallow to deep with beautiful Balinese tiles and crystal-clear water. I can't say enough about this place. I went around taking photos on our last night when the house was lit up like a jewel and began to cry, realizing that perhaps our family would never stay in a place so special, so full of family time and togetherness and real beauty. Thanks for sharing it with us, Thomas.
Dining tips: Walk down the beach to a beautiful restaurant at Ganesha Coral Villas. They'll set up a table for you on the beach or next to their rice fields. Have Komang take you for fresh grilled fish at two warungs on the road to Lovina Beach: Ikan Lese Han (perhaps the best piece of fish I have ever had) and one whose name now escapes me but where Komang takes his family. Little stilted bales right on the beach with nothing but fresh fish.
