A perfect fit for our family, kids didn't want to leave

5 of 5
We had perfect fall weather the weekend we stayed, with the trees at peak color. The cabin is lovely, charming and comfortable. Our boys (5 and 2 1/2) loved running to the porch each morning to see the horses in the paddock, just steps from the cabin. The parking spot for the beach was very easy to find, beach access very convenient. The kids enjoyed roasting hot dogs in the fire pit, we adults enjoyed long evenings with a big fire in the wood stove. Stop 50 Pizza delicious as usual. Took the kids to Boo at the Zoo, which they loved, we went trail riding at the stables, and took a trip over to La Porte to the Hesston Steam Train Museum for a "Ghost Train" ride. The Galien River walk was gorgeous with all the fall foliage, kids loved collecting acorns. The cabin is very well maintained with lots of attention to the small details. It DOES have a great shower as another guest pointed out. Very peaceful and secluded, but also with very easy access to just about everything the area has to offer. The only bummer is that the kids didn't really want to leave, and our 2 1/2 year old seems to think it's "our" cabin. I think he's making plans to return…we will definitely be back. Thank you Claudia, for your hospitality.

A GREAT RELAXING GET- AWAY!!!!

5 of 5
My husband and I needed a relaxing get -away and that is exactly what we got!! It was WONDERFUL!!! The Portabella cabin was cozy and had everything we needed. We turned on the fire place and watched movies at night. (no cable) Because the weather was good we were able to spend time out by the river in the swing. Jane and Ed were great hostess. They had a cook out with their friends and invited us to join them. What great people!! We can't wait to go back. Thank you Jane & Ed. Jim & Tammy

Wonderful stay!

5 of 5
This gem of a house was the perfect getaway for our group - six adults and four children - and could have easily accommodated another family or two! It was just far enough into the country to feel remote and private, but close enough that we went to New Buffalo every day for restaurants and beach time. Beautiful property, and I think I could have spent the entire vacation on that front porch and been content! We would definitely return!
