Great host, great house, great location. Perfect.

5 of 5
The four of us had never been to Goa before, and we decided to explore different parts of the state during our time there. Tasneem's apartment was the highlight of our stay, if you consider the location, the views, the amenities, and our personal tastes. She is also a wonderful host and very friendly. We wish we had just stayed at her place throughout our trip and taken a taxi, bus or better yet a couple of rental scooters/motorcycles to wherever we wanted to go during the daytime. The next time we visit Goa, we will do just that. We found this place as good as a 5-star hotel, and it felt like home. The apartment is located on a cliff, so you have a great wide view of the Arabian Sea, the mouth of the Mandovi River, and the Miramar Beach among other things. We enjoyed just hanging out on the sofa in the living room and checking out the view. It is a good idea to bring binoculars, but we hadn't thought of it beforehand. If you want to be right in the middle of the North Goa tourist hotspots and enjoy the crowds and noise, then this might not be the best place. But if you'd like to avoid the chaos and crowds at the end of the day, then Dona Paula is perfect because it is right next to the capital city of Panaji, and very accessible. The neighborhood is very safe, quiet, clean, and residential. A taxi stand, travel agency and some nice local beaches are within walking distance from the apartment. The taxi stand was invaluable, and the travel agency nearby also arranges rental scooters, motorcycles and cars. Tasneem also put us in touch with a local cook who delivered us home-cooked food that was very reasonably priced. The apartment is fully furnished, with wifi and backup power inverter (which turned out to be a godsend). The inverter automatically kicks in when the electricity goes out (a common occurrence in India), allowing some of the lights, fans, and wifi to stay operational. The wifi was actually a hotspot, and we were able to connect with our laptops and iPads (5 devices maximum). The network was occasionally a bit spotty due to the elevation, but overall it worked well enough so we had no problem with it. We all highly recommend this apartment and would definitely use it again if we come back.
