This property worked out perfectly for us. My 10-yr-old son, my 83-yr-old mother and myself were all comfortable, both in the house and in the neighborhood overall. We walked to the El only a few blocks away to head downtown one day, drove to the suburbs and easily found street parking each evening when we returned (our minivan could not fit into the garage, though--it is really only suitable for a small car). We even played in the park around the corner (with the soccer ball we found in the apartment).
We ate next door the first night and the food was good. The grocery store next door is only okay, but the one a mile away was fine. Didn't get a chance to try the bakery, but I heard it was excellent.
We appreciated the artistic touches in the decorating and used the piano a few times. The kitchen was well-equipped and clean (although we did need to wash a few of the pots and pans before use); there were more than enough towels and pillows; Virgil really missed nothing important.
Phil was helpful and a pleasant "receptionist" upon our arrival and quickly addressed our needs. And Virgil was a great host as well.
I would definitely stay in this property again and recommend it for others, especially families or anyone who needs to or wants to spend time both in the city and drive outside the city as well.
