The Zen Haven Home was an amazing venue for our late-September wedding weekend. We made arrangements with the owners months in advance and visited the home twice to nail down logistics. They were extremely accommodating and recommended several vendors to us. There's an excellent equipment rental company just a quarter mile away.
The five bedrooms we had access to were great; it allowed us to host several friends and family members who helped cover the cost of renting the home, reducing our share of the venue fees. The house is built for entertaining. We used the basement, with it's beautiful ocean floor, for the Welcome Dinner and the Newlywed Brunch. There was ample space for the 20 people that attended each event and there was a bar that we were able to place the food platters on. The afterparty was held in the basement and in the media room, where we had a movie marathon running. One of the reasons we picked the home was that the inside of the house had enough space to host our small wedding in case of inclement weather. Just after the ceremony, a strong rainstorm began and half of the attendees retreated to the basement; the other half stayed outside with the bartender (safe under a rented pop-up canopy tent).
For the wedding, we used the backyard and decks. We were able to setup the ceremony chairs on the lawn and then put cocktail and highboy tables on the oversized deck. We were able to accommodate 50 people with lots of extra space available. The yard was very well laid out and allowed us to setup different entertainment spaces. Mike even pulled out a big speaker that we were able to hook our MP3 player to for the music. There was plenty of parking space, but I do wish that the lights around the address marker at the head of the driveway had been operational. Several guests arriving in the evening had difficulty finding the house and we had to take our lantern down to signal where we were.
Everyone present enjoyed the house immensely and that's with several of the rooms going completely unused. We were all able to spread out, relax, and enjoy ourselves all weekend long. The arrangement of the property gives it a great, cozy, private feel. It was an amazing experience and we regret absolutely nothing.
