Excellent location and safe, well-heeled neighborhood. Plenty of good restaurants and night life just around the corner. Walk to everything--Magnificent Mile stores, beach, downtown (about 30-40 minutes), Lincoln Park, Old Town. Easy to grab a taxi at the end of the block for more distant travels. Several blocks (10-15 minutes) to nearest metro Red Line and nearest grocery store to buy coffee and breakfast foods; two blocks to a CVS drug store. Apartment clean; kitchen well-stocked. Bathrooms have new tile and fixtures; kitchen counters and appliances looked new as well. Bedrooms, living rooms, and kitchen large and spacious. A couple reading chairs on lower level would have been nice as alternative seating to straight kitchen-table chairs. Bathrooms very small, but typical of Chicago urban living. Plenty of nice, thick, fluffy bath towels. Tumbled marble tile in bathroom on lower level already showing much mold/mildew. Hardwood floors in kitchen need refinishing; wood trim around doors/closets needs painting. Still, apartment quite comfortable and neat but décor and amenities not luxurious. (Think young professional's apartment vs. Ritz Carlton or Chateau Relais hotels.) Small things like Kleenex in the tissue boxes, tourist info brochures, and a few magazines or books would have added to comfort. On-line reservations, exchange of contractual documents, and email correspondence were simple and efficient. Everything worked like a charm. My husband and I stayed for five nights along with my 33-year old son and daughter-in-law. Having bedrooms on different levels (one up and one down) gave us privacy. It was so much better than staying in a hotel since we could enjoy good family time with the feel of being "at home." A delightful visit to Chicago.
