My fiancé and I rented this apartment for several months. The owners, Tracey and Tony, were wonderful to deal with on every level. They were responsive to all of our requests and questions. The unit itself was perfect for our needs as a professional couple looking for a temporary furnished apartment far from home. The apartment and furnishings were clean, modern, and well-maintained. The kitchen has newer appliances and is stocked for basic every day cooking needs. During our stay, Tony added a brand new 47 inch flatscreen TV to the living room and moved the smaller flatscreen TV to the bedroom. The building association upgraded its internet and cable service - Internet is very fast, and there is a DVR, too!
River City itself is an interesting and convenient place to live. The building has 24x7 security guards who are friendly and keep a close eye on the premises. During the summer, there is an outdoor rooftop patio for enjoying the city scenes and river activity. When we were leaving, we learned that the convenience store in the basement was renovating to add a sandwich shop and cafe, which should be a wonderful addition to River City.
The neighborhood (South Loop and Printers Row) has some strong qualities as well. Target and Whole Foods are less than a 1/2 mile away. There are are a handful of inexpensive restaurants within easy walking distance. I found XSport Fitness Center on State Street to be an adequate exercise facility for the price. And of course, the South Loop provides easy access to all the wonderful things about Chicago, like the Art Institute and Millennium Park.
In summary, I would not hesitate to work with Tracey and Tony again if I were looking for an affordable, modern rental in downtown Chicago.
