Beautiful setting and an amazing owner!

5 of 5
The house and its surroundings were phenomenal. The horses in the back were beautiful and so friendly (just offer them some bread!) We truly enjoyed our visit to Iceland, and staying at Valur's house made it all that more memorable. We could not have asked for better amenities or for a more hospitable host. Valur, the owner, went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. The location was fantastic for visiting the Golden Circle. Our kids enjoyed the Selfoss pool as well. We highly recommend this property!

Simply Amazing!

5 of 5
I am hesitant to tell everyone how beautiful Iceland is for fear of it getting over run by tourists, but this place is nothing short of breathtaking. First, Kristin is the consummate hostess. She will provide everything you need for an enjoyable stay. The house is outfitted very nicely and the first thing you should do upon arrival is open ALL the blinds for the view! A beautiful river in front (we counted the trout feeding on the surface every night over a glass of wine) and a mountain out the back. One of the best hiking trails in the area *literally* starts outside your door. In 10 minutes you are standing in front of ruins from the 12th century. In 15 minutes you are standing over the hot springs and geothermal features that make the area so popular as a weekend destination for the people of Reykjavik. You can easily walk through the town from the home and if you want to swim in one of the largest pools in Iceland, it is a 5 minute walk from the house. It is 1 hour to Gulfvoss, 50 minutes to Thingvellir, 75 minutes to the black beach at Vik, an hour from the glacier Myrdalsjokull and 45-55 minutes from the most beautiful waterfalls this side of Costa Rica. One of our favorite "creature comforts" was the heated floors. There is something about getting out of bed in the morning to toasty toes! We will be back!

Picture perfect villa!

5 of 5
Signy and her family have a superb weekend getaway place within stone's throw from the capital city Reykjavik (45 minutes drive). It is also very well located to cover the Golden Circle, the Inside the Volcano tour and the Snaefellsness area on the West side. It is about 10 minutes from Selfoss town, which has restaurants (Kaffi Krus) and grocery stores (Kronan) to stock up on whatever you need. The villa itself is very well appointed and incredible views overlooking the lake. Very cosily furnished, this is just a dream place for your Iceland vacation.
