Excellent cottage and very helpful owner

5 of 5
My family of 4 stayed for a week in Hilmar's nice cottage in December 2014. Prior to our trip, Hilmar responded swiftly to my queries, provided very good travel tips, and even help me negotiate with a car rental company for better prices as he knew this was my first trip to Iceland. Hilmar met us at the airport where I drove following his car to the cottage. On the way, as he knew we would be ravenous after our flight as well as an expected bad weather the next day, he stopped by a supermarket where he waited for us patiently while we picked up some groceries for the next few days. Upon arrival at the cottage, we were amazed with the how well kept cottage was. Northern Lights were also beginning to show when we arrived. In fact, we were fortunate to view Northern Lights from this cottage almost every night. Hilmar provided us with a mobile phone as well to make calls to him. This was helpful because we called Hilmar and obtained good advices to maximize our stay in Iceland, when deep snowfall paralyzed and closed off Reykavik for two separate days during our stay. Location of cottage provided easy access to Golden Circle sights including Kerio. We shopped for groceries in Selfoss, a 15-20 min drive from the cottage. Cottage was warm and cozy, while high winds bellow outside the cottage with temperatures between 0 to -9 degrees Celsius. Hilmar also handed us a shovel in case our 4x4 rented vehicle required, which came in handy. We also catered for a guided Blue Ice Cave tour during our stay, which turned out to be a highlight of our tour in Iceland. Upon our day of departure, due to the unprecedented deep snowfall in Iceland in mid December 2014, Hilmar and his friend, Ingolf, drove a truck to pick us with luggage from the cottage to our 4x4 car. This helped us avoid being stranded in deep snow as an inexperienced deep snow driver. And to further avoid us losing our way to the airport in the dark (few day light hours in winter), Hilmar and his friend had us followed their truck to show us almost all the way to the airport. Truly Icelandic Hospitality! My family was very fortunate to meet sincere people like Hilmar and his friend. I highly recommend this cottage. Thank you so much, Hilmar!

Perfect house for a family

5 of 5
We are ja family of five who stayed here for five days at the end of June 2014. Friendly and service minded welcome from very pleasant house owners. A clean, well equipped and practical house with a nice and quiet garden in a friendly little town. Few minutes walk to the local pub/café with delicious pizzas. Perfect place to stay for a family who wants to explore the southwestern part of Iceland, including the geysirs and Gullfoss, by car. We will highly recommend this place for anyone who considers a vacation on Iceland.

Fabulous rural retreat!!

5 of 5
We had a lovely stay in the well equipped cabin for 3 nights. The scenery is lovely and we spent most evenings star gazing in the hot tub.The wood burner kept the cabin toasty and warm and created a great romantic feel to the cabin. We would love to visit again in the summer. The booking process was easy and the sisters helpful.I would highly recommend!!
