Best week ever

5 of 5
I couldn't recommend this apartment or it's owners more highly. I was a little skeptical about staying in someone's home, worried that privacy might be an issue. Inga and Hordur (and sister, Hildur) are the perfect hosts. Not intrusive, accommodating, and so warmly friendly. They booked reservations for us at a fantastic seafood restaurant (Kopur) on our first night. On our last day I sent an email (although they made themselves available whenever we needed them), asking if we could use the hot tub. We arrived home to find the hot tub prepared and waiting for us. The beds are so comfortable, we slept like babies (with sleep-masks!) The ocean was such a peaceful backdrop to the living and kitchen areas. 1.5 baths is nice - Most two bedroom apartments we looked at were only 1 bath. The location near Reykjavik was perfect. 8 minutes to the city but so quiet in the neighborhood. We considered staying out in the country. Reykjavik is such a good central base camp for exploring Iceland. Grocery stores and restaurants are hard to come by once you get out into the rest of the country, so having the city so accessible was a good pick for us. You won't regret staying here. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Honeymoon in Iceland

5 of 5
My husband and I chose Iceland to kick off our winter honeymoon. Once we found the listing, we immediately emailed Jon for availability. He was super responsive and made it very easy to plan our trip. It was our first time to Iceland, and coming from California, we didn't know what to expect. When we arrived to the apartment from the airport, Jon was there to greet us. The penthouse is on the top floor, but there’s an elevator from the ground level. He gave us a thorough tour around the apartment and recommendations around town. We fell in love with the apartment through the online photos, but it's even more beautiful in person. The views are breathtaking from both sides of the apartment, and it’s also well equipped with a full kitchen, TV, wifi, washer and dryer, and more. We also decided to rent a car while there, and Jon made it so easy for us to rent a parking space in the garage below for the days that we needed it. He also lent us a local cell phone which allowed us to easily make restaurant and activity reservations, as well as a mobile hotspot, which allowed us to get directions on our cell phones while driving around the island. The apartment is also located in the best location on the best street—it’s within walking distance to everything! On the days that it rained and snowed, we were able to still get out and walk a short distance to the shops, restaurants and bars. There’s also a grocery store next door, which allowed us to make good use of the kitchen. We've already recommended the penthouse to our family and friends who wish to visit Iceland one day. We also hope we can return in the next few years. A week isn't enough to explore this beautiful country, but the penthouse on Laugavegur absolutely gave us the best opportunity to maximize our stay.

Fantastic!

Brilliant location in the heart of Reykjavik. Perfect for exploring all that Iceland has to offer. Communication between myself and the owner was excellent, my questions were answered via e-mail almost instantly, which was particularly helpful. Would highly recommend.
