Great House & Location

5 of 5
The house was exactly as advertised and in excellent condition. While I am not a "hot tub person", the geothermal heated one at this house in Iceland is quite enjoyable. All bed rooms have room darkening shades that really help block the 3 AM full Iceland sun... When traveling to the property for the 1st time, be sure to go a short way down the unpaved road... The location is Ideal for exploring south Iceland including Pingvellir, Gullfoss & Vik areas. I was able to get all the way to the east end of the country with one night in a hotel. The town of Selfoss is very close and has all the amenities. I recommend the Kaffi Krús restaurant including eat in (trout is excellent), take out pizza on your way back to the house is great for those long days of sight seeing.

A Stunning Summerhouse

5 of 5
This is a beautiful property even better than the pictures, it was spotlessly clean, with everything you could wish for. The location was ideal very handy for local shops and sightseeing trips. The owner was very friendly and welcoming which made us feel at home straight away. She provided towels, linen and all the pots and pans you could need and the beds were very very comfy. The area surrounding the summerhouse was very peaceful and private. It was lovely to sit out on the terrace and relax. I was sad to leave and would be happy to recommend this property and would love to come back.

Cozy and comfortable cottage!

5 of 5
We really enjoyed our stay and home base of Hellnar. The cottage was as described. Very comfortable and accommodating for our family of four. The mattresses are excellent. The kitchen is well equipped and stocked with basics like olive oil, salt, pepper some spices, coffee, sugar etc. This makes cooking so much easier! The only caution I would give is that the stairs to the second floor a cross between a ladder and stairs. Not a problem for us but if you have mobility issues or toddlers, it might be hard to get to the second level where the bedrooms are. There are a lot of things to do near Hellnar, so it is a good base to see the peninsula. There is also a very helpful information office just next door. You can learn quite a bit about the area there as well as get maps for hikes.
