A five-star stay

5 of 5
From the moment we were met by the lovely owners of the cabin, to the moment we sadly said goodbye, we couldn't have asked for more. After a brief tour of the cabin and an explanation of facilities such as the hot tub, we were left to enjoy this stylish, comfortable, warm, and spotlessly clean home. The location is ideal for driving out to see the highlights of the Golden Circle, or for heading back to the capital. It's a very quiet spot and feels private. The hot tub especially, as it's in a sunken part of the garden, is very private so you don't need to worry about stripping down to your swimwear! We sat in there morning and night, even at 4am in the hope of seeing the northern lights (sadly not on this trip). Not seeing the aurora is just another reason to come back and we will certainly be returning to this cabin, bringing the kids next time!

Beautiful place to stay!

5 of 5
Álfabakki is a most remarkable place to stay and you will probably always remember this nice and cosy hut. I have rarely seen something comparable. The little house is fully equipped with much love to detail so that I felt at home immediately. The owners of the place are very nice. They are successfully breeding horses so that you may get an interesting insight in the Icelandic horse culture. They also offer riding tours, specially designed for you or your wishes, and can offer horses that will perfectly fit your needs. Very recommendable! I very much enjoyed my stay there.

Magnificent

5 of 5
This is the greatest place to stay in Iceland. Full stop. Bjorn is a fabulous person, and the home will knock your socks off the minute you walk in, not to mention the second you drive along the lake. To sum it up, my 5 year old daughter walked in and the first words out of her mouth were," I want to live here." If I could praise it more, I would, but I don't know how. You have to see it to believe it. When we come back, this is where we'll stay. Larry H. Rude Washington, DC USA
