Beautiful Home - Pictures don't do it justice!

5 of 5
Our group was amazed by how gorgeous this home was. Even the pickiest of our group kept mentioning how impressed he was with the detailing in the interior. From heated floors to high ceilings, and the beautiful glass stairwell - this house is unique in so many ways. You can tell the owner went above and beyond to provide a one-of-a-kind home. There are plenty of rooms for a large group, and it was well stocked with everything you need from toilet paper, spices for cooking, laundry detergent, games, etc. Past guests even left some liquor (and so did we for the next guests)! The home is cozy and warm, but also open and spacious so everyone can have their own space. The location is excellent - 20 minutes from Thingvellir (we went snorkeling here which was unbelievable) and also a close drive to Selfoss where they have incredible burgers. We took the scenic route to the airport on the last day (southern route along the beach) which was stunning. We were lucky to have Thorsteinn as our host as he is pleasant, responsive and caring. We highly recommend this home to anyone with a family or large group to enjoy Iceland's beautiful countryside :)

Absolutely fantastic house in the Icelandic nature

5 of 5
We had the greatest holiday ever in Viðines. Wish we would have stayed another week! The house is amazing and the location is the best. The nature around the house is so beautiful and it was just amazing to be able to walk from the house to the waterfall Glanni and the beautiful place Paradisarlaut. It was also a big adventage for us that there are short driving distances to many beautiful places because we didn´t want to be driving all the time with two young children in the backseat. Lake Hreðavatn, Grabrok and the shop in Bifrost is all less than 10 minutes drive, so we always had enough time to relax in the hot tub, cook in the big, open and well equipped kitchen and enjoy the house after having enjoyed the beautiful nature in Iceland. We were two families travelling together and the teenagers could stay in the guest house and they were very happy with that! We were so happy with everything, the house was very clean and had all the equipment described and more. The owners gave us a lot of tips about what to do and how to get the most out of our stay in Víðines, it was very helpful and we are very thankful for that. Helena

Cozy Cabin for Winter Adventures

5 of 5
We enjoyed our stay in the cabin, although it was an adventure to get to with a foot of snow on the ground! It was a lovely place to stay, with lots of beds even though we were only a family of four staying. Having a pack n play/crib available for our 6 month old was fantastic, and our three year old loved having a whole double bed and bedroom to herself, and playing upstairs in the loft. Everything was well maintained and clean, and it was a great location to Gullfoss and Geysir, and to the Golden Circle attractions. If coming in the winter and there is snow on the ground a 4x4 vehicle is highly recommended/required. We arrived the day after a big snow and the winds whipped enough snow around that we had to wait for the plow to come around the next morning before we could get out (even with a 4x4 Suzuki). The owners were very nice and helpful when we were driving around in the dark trying to decipher the road names and signs, and were nice enough to be waiting at the cabin for us to arrive, even though we wound up taking 2 hours longer than anticipated due to a road closure from the blowing snow. All in all we had a lovely stay and enjoyed our time at the cabin! It would be an absolutely perfect place for the summertime, and it was great for winter with beautiful views of the mountains and the northern lights (just with the caveat of being a bit adventurous to get to if its snowy!)
