We booked the unit with our daughter, son-in-law and 15 month old granddaughter for two weeks. The Imperial Waikiki Resort is well situated and is steps away from the beach. A large ABC store is located in the building as well as a Denny's Restaurant. The lobby is somewhat dated and basic. The elevators are fast which we appreciated. The knowledgeable concierge staff are very helpful in planning tours and making suggestions. You may encounter the timeshare rep who will encourage you to attend a presentation. We quickly declined. The pool is an average size and the surrounding pool deck offers full sun or shade. There's a washroom and ice machine but no BBQ. The unit includes a parking spot, and Enterprise car rental is conveniently located in the Outrigger Reef across the street.
The master bedroom is large and accommodated the crib quite easily. It's bright, airy, and nicely furnished. Our daughter and son-in-law reported that the bed was fairly comfortable. The AC unit wasn't working but was replaced after the first week. You can hear the elevator motor from that room, so something to be aware of if you're a light sleeper. The lanai off the master offers magnificent views of the beach and Friday night fireworks display.
The kitchen includes lots of dishes, glassware, and cutlery, but pots and pans are few and far between. Bed linen and towels are replaced by taking the items to Housekeeping on the 3rd floor. Coin operated washers & dryers are on the 2nd floor.
The living room furniture is comfortable and there's a TV and iPod dock. The lanai off the kitchen/living room is long and inviting with great views.
The dining table seats 8 and there was room to add a high chair. Some of the chairs are in disrepair and should be fixed.
The second bedroom offers two twin beds or they can be made up as a king, which we did. The room is small but there's a chest of drawers and a small wardrobe for hanging things up. One of the table lamps didn't work and it appeared the switch was stripped.
The unit includes beach chairs, two large beach umbrellas, snorkel gear and two boogie boards, which unfortunately were broken. There's lots of DVDs and games to use.
There's a step in each bathroom and unfortunately I tripped and fell the day we arrived, cracking two ribs in the process. Perhaps something could be done to caution guests about that and mark the step better.
All in all, it was a nice place to stay and the location can't be beat.
