Rain Forest Hideaway!

5 of 5
We absolutely loved our stay here. The cabin is sparkling clean. For us, it was 4 nights of rain forest heaven, only 5 minutes away from the entrance to Volcano National Park. We awoke to sunshine and the songs of rain forest birds. Hubby went nuts with his camera and binoculars. The cabin just feels so secluded and private. There's a covered patio outside the front door with a nice bench for taking off your shoes before entering the cabin. If it's raining when you're there, you'll really appreciate this. The full-sized kitchen is a dream for the do-it-yourself vacationer (excepting the knives, which needed sharpening). We enjoyed the comfy king-sized bed and the gas-log fireplace. The water supply here is filtered rain catchment, so we were encourage to conserve water as best we could. There is no garbage disposal, so one must be very careful not to put solids down the kitchen sink drain. We looked for, but didn't find any recycling system, so all our garbage went unsorted into a single bin. Perhaps the town of Volcano doesn't do recycling yet. The owner here has given such careful attention to comfort and convenience that it seems the visitor never lacks for anything. We wholeheartedly recommend this place!

Cute rainforest cottage

5 of 5
Great location for all things volcano national park and mauna loa. Quiet and clean, the cottage is well taken care of. We enjoyed the great selection of local music cds in the cottage.

Great place to stay near Volcano national park

5 of 5
The listing description was spot on though the place was lovelier than the description. Fresh orchid bouquets were delightful. It was very very clean (difficult to do in tropical climate) and well maintained. The owners were nice people and very helpful. The hot tub on the lanai was so good to sit in after hiking miles over the lava in the park. The location really is only 10 minutes from the Vocano park entrance and yet is so quiet and surrounded by lush vegetation. I would not only highly recommend this property to a friend/relative (already have to several) but we are planning a return trip and hope to stay here again. We spent 5 days in the nearby Volcano park hiking; went into Hilo (30-40 min drive depending on traffic) for the Farmers market and the lovely park nearby; drove the sothern highway along the coast to Kona stopping at the southernmost point.
