Magical!

We stayed at The Cottage for the first part of our honeymoon. We did a lot of research prior to booking and decided that this would be the most bang for our money in comparison to the pricey hotels on Oahu, which are mostly in busy Waikiki, Honolulu. We wanted to get away from the world and just have peace and quiet in a beautiful place where we would not have to deal with any drama or people. The cottage was perfect for us. It does not have super high end things but we were not looking for that. We had everything we needed- full kitchen with all necessary cookware , cable tv & dvd player (we watched the premier of The Walking Dead on our first night there- it was awesome), comfortable furnishings, fresh linens, and even extra large beach towels. I am extremely picky and usually look for places that are clean and have a modern/contemporary look and amenities and this was my top choice- we got lucky there was availability. The place is very very private with many large windows that let the air through. There's no A/C but it was not a problem for us since there are plenty of ceiling fans all over and we went in October, not sure how it'd be in the summer time. There are beautiful wood furniture pieces, soft and pretty bed covers (I hate ugly bed covers), and amazing, well-kept natural surroundings. The owner, Yuki, truly has very good taste in design. I felt as if I was in a romantic movie. I loved waking up to the roosters crowing and baby chickens chirping around the property and falling asleep to the sounds of rain falling on the surrounding vegetation, roof, and outside deck. The place is just walk from the AMAZING Sunset Beach, but we rented a small SUV so we drove to many places and did not mind that. There are also bikes on the property to borrow and get around. The street leading to the location is quite bumpy and the concrete parking pad is down a very steep hill- it was a bit scary for me driving in and out but we never had any issues. There's also a remote to open the parking gate for convenience. You might struggle with the drive if you're not driving a well powered vehicle, but Yuki lets you park up top if you want. By the way, the area is very safe and pretty. The Cottage is a drive from the busier areas but we knew that and actually wanted to be away from the touristy sides. We loved eating on the North Shore at Luibueno's Mexican & Latin Cuisine, probably a 15 minute drive (best paella I've ever had), we also had great sushi around there

Heaven in Paradise

Cute studio. Lovely garden surrounds. Cute geckos. Perfect location on the beautiful North Shore. A car would be an advantage but 'the bus' is more than adequate. We walked to pipeline , sunset beaches. Can't wait to stay again.

I loved staying here, sitting on the deck while watching/listening to the waves crash on the beach never got old day or night. The sunsets are unreal, the stars are bright, and the sunsets are incredible. Some friends and I needed a place to stay on the North Shore to attend a mutual friend's wedding in late October. Our desires were that the place sleep six adults, has direct access to the beach, is reasonably priced, and is relatively close to all amenities. This place fits all of those criteria and is also a great place. The house is up to date with new appliances including a 32" HDTV. There is wifi and it has reliably good speeds, I found that 10-15M down was typical. The kitchen has the usual appliances as well as a blender and a coffee maker. The place was very clean and there were plenty of beach towels. There's a laundry room in case you need to wash any clothes and said beach towels. There's a grocery store five minutes down the road and a gas station less than a block away. Swimming in the ocean in late October isn't recommended in front of the house, though the surf was good given that there was a competition happening 400 yards down the beach. Waimea is 10 minutes away by car and has great swimming. If there's any flaws, they have to do with cooking. The knives were very dull, I couldn't find one that would cut through the skin of a salmon filet, the grill is charcoal which can be difficult to light during the frequently windy conditions, and there was no food storage containers so stock up on glad wrap at the store. The deck, which I could happily spend the rest of my life on, is super slippery when wet so keep some footwear on the back deck (no footwear in the house). I'm now trying to figure out when I can get back to this gem on the North Shore.
