Better late than never. Sorry

5 of 5
Stewart and Andrea, First our apologies for not doing this right away. We had our first Hawaii experience in July of 2012 and stayed at the cottage, our family absolutely loved this place. Our two boys became beach bums learning to surf and paddle board (big, big thank you Stewart) The cottage was warm and inviting and had everything we needed to maximize our stay. If you are looking for local charm and advice on where to go and what to see this is the place!! Stewart was absolutely awesome! without giving the farm away, he went so far beyond just being polite and helpful. Hint, the paddle board trip was the highlight of our stay. so much to see out in the big ocean, it was like our own private wildlife trip we saw more on the paddle boards than the trip to Molikini. We really enjoyed our time visiting with both Stewart and Andrea they are both awesome hosts! Andrea, again sorry for my profanity out on the deck hangin with you and Stewart. I can't tell you how often I pull up the memories of our stay and just smile! It took us 26 years to get there and celebrate our anniversary with our two boys and man was it ever worth it. All our best to you both, Tim and Kathleen (PS sorry so late, hope to see you again-soon)

All True!

My husband, 25-yr old daughter and I stayed for 5 days and loved it there. I just re-read the description of the cottage and it is completely accurate. Everything I was going to say is already there. So colorful, comfortable, carefully maintained! Every little detail from the lovely (old?) photos of hula dancers in the bedroom to the interesting turquoise pottery dishes and glassware in the kitchen feels chosen with care. I feared it might be funky and was both relieved and delighted to find it spotless and lovely. As for Waimanalu itself: again, great description: "Old Hawaii". Rural, small and a community of permanent residents -- not just tourists. The beach is your tropical fantasy PLUS really safe and easy. We are water wimps and felt at ease there. We ate well at Sweet Home, Hawaii Time Cafe, Sergs and Keneke's. I can't imagine staying anywhere else on Oahu!

Slice of Paradise

5 of 5
We arrived at the cottage after dark and our hosts had left the lights on, music playing and windows cast wide open with the soft ocean breeze floating through. It was a perfect welcome, except we couldn't really see the surroundings. But then morning came. When the sun rose we pulled back the drapes and were stunned by the incredible view and the ocean which seemed almost close enough to touch. Spectacular! We spent two weeks in Maui and the four days we spent at the cottage were hands-down the best four days of the trip. We lamented not being able to stay longer (next time, indeed!). The cottage was well appointed, impeccably clean, surrounded by the most well-manicured garden in the neighborhood and Sandi and Dan gave us so much privacy we were able to pretend we actually lived at this place on Hamoa Beach! One day it rained most of the day but we simply sat on the lanai in our shorts with books and the amazing view, enjoying every bit of the warm, tropical downpour. Plenty of things to see and do around Hana, which all the guidebooks will steer you, but sitting on our lanai and drinking in the surroundings was a highlight by itself. Great place, great location--we've raved about it to all our friends, especially those who are aching for a second-honeymoon location.
