Rain Forest Getaway

4 of 5
Well equipped and a good buy! We enjoyed the covered lanai so we could sit outside even in the rain. The bed was super comfortable and loved that it was heated. Really impressed with the Guest Guide. Wonderful information and we used it to find our lunch place and our next hike. We will be back.

This is the place

5 of 5
2 adult couples arrived in Kona. We were advised to shop in Kona for any supplies like milk, etc. We bought steaks to cook on the grill. Arrived late afternoon after the long sightseeing trip from Kona. We unloaded our luggage and then it started to rain. We were able to use the grill on the covered lanai and very much enjoyed eating them. I don't think you will see a disappointing review. One bedroom has a toilet and sink. The main bath in the hall has a tub/shower. At the opposite end of the house is a bathroom with toilet and shower. Also took advantage of the Sunday morning farmer's market in Volcano Village. We bought meals for late lunch that we could reheat in the microwave after exploring Volcanoes National Park all day. And going to the park after dark is definitely worth it.

LOVED this place!

5 of 5
Volcano Haven is a lovely, quiet, romantic gem of a place. We loved it and would highly recommend it for folks who want to see Volcano National Park (which we also loved - so interesting - we hiked pretty much every trail in the park in our three days there). I am a hiking enthusiast, if you love to hike, plan at least three days in the Park. We loved the picture windows framing the lush tropical garden surrounding the house. All the appointments are great - we loved how orderly, elegant, compact, uncluttered, clean, and serene the place is. (I came home and re-did my linen closet to look more like this place's!) Perfect location for visiting the Park - we could spend all day in the park, jet "home" for dinner, and make it back to see the volcano glow from Jagger Museum (which we did every night we were there) - it's an easy jaunt back and forth, about 7-8? minutes. All the little touches so kind and welcoming - bottled water, chocolates, organic honey, and coffee waiting for us. Also kudos for the hiking maps and information notebooks left for us - the Chain of Craters road notebook is a MUST use for the trip - it had great advice on where to stop and best hikes and what to see - we followed its advice and felt like we really got to see the major highlights - thermal hot spot, lava trees, craters, petroglyphs, and even loads of breaching whales when we got to the ocean. You will not find a lovelier, more memorable place to stay on the Big Island!
