GORGEOUS OCEANFRONT PARADISE!!

5 of 5
We stayed at this lovely home Oct. 2009, Sept. 2012 and Oct. 2013 each for 2 weeks. The last 2 times we were there, our friends from Utah came and stayed with us for a week. We did fresh fish on the BBQ that was purchased at the local fish market which is caught every morning then brought to the market. We also enjoyed all of the fresh fruits and vegetables at the local farmers market which is located not far from the fish market. It is such a joy to cook in the gorgeous kitchen with all of its amenities and top of the line appliances. We loved eating our meals on the hand painted picnic table on the lanai. Every evening we would take our chairs to the beach with a glass of wine and enjoy the beautiful sunset. This beautiful Hawaiian home is very warm & inviting. We love the glass doors that open up at the back of the home and in the master bedroom to bring the “outside in”. It is custom decorated and not a detail was missed from the beautiful wood floors to the blue granite in the kitchen that resembles the ocean, wood banisters, built in cabinets and entertainment center along with inlaid bathroom counter tops. Each bathroom has its own walk-in shower. When showering in the master you have a view of the ocean-beautiful!! There were days that we didn’t even leave the property. It is so nice to relax on the lanai with a good book or just sit & look out at the expansive ocean. We snorkel, kayak, paddle board, walk along the beach & enjoy the many large turtles, ride bikes & just take walks along Puako Bay Dr.. It is such a peaceful area. There are many activities to do outside Puako which include the petroglyphs, Mauna Kea Observatory, Volcano National Park, coffee farms & waterfalls just to mention a few. The last two visits we rented a Harley motorcycle and spent the day just touring around the island-a treat for you motorcycle enthusiasts. If you are a church goer, there is a Catholic & a Protestant church on the street. We visited the Protestant one in 2012 & enjoyed hymns in Hawaiian & in English. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. There is also a small market just up the street for your convenience. The pictures speak for themselves, a true dream vacation home. We are hoping to return in 2015 & bring our children & grandchildren to share in this paradise.

JUST BEAUTIFUL!

5 of 5
Pro: Amazing home and property. Dawn was a fantastic concierge. Tasteful mid-century modern decor, with abundant amenities. Right on the water, and got to hang out with the turtles. Plenty of room and space for a large family. We had 8 with 2 bdrs to spare. Great kitchen with pretty much everything you would need. Even juicers. Cons: finicky but awesome spa that broke down last two days of the stay. An in home audio system would be a nice addition. I went to costco and bought a bose system for the week. But I need a sound track in paradise.

BEAUTIFUL SPOT/ DISAPPOINTING HOSTS

4 of 5
During our honeymoon we spent 4 nights at this wonderful spot. The appartment is clean and very spacious. The 50's-style of the house is very charming. We spent most of the time chilling in the garden enjoying the beautiful view (that in reality is even more beautiful than on the picture), snorkeling in the mornings (one of the best snorkelspots we met during our three-weeks-stay on Big Island, Kauai and Oahu), observing the numerous seaturtles and preparing yummie dinners in the well equipped kitchen. HOWEVER, we were very disappointed by the unprofessional behaviour of the owners. - After a rather complicated and longlasting mail-communication they sent the paypal request to the wrong (my husband's instead of mine) and furthermore misspelt mail-adress. As we never got the mail we weren't able to pay. So they told us as they haven't received the paiment, they'll cancel our reservation (even if we had already signed the contract...). Just after a phone call in the middle of the night (time difference around the globe) in which I communicated the paypal-mail-adress (already mentioned in two previous mails) again, could I save the deal. This time it worked. But we never received apologies from their part. That's not in the spirit of Aloha! - arrived on the place everything was as described on vrbo, we finally could relax - BUT, the day before our departure I found myself locked out at 11.30 a.m. because the doorcode didn't work anymore. Luckily my husband still was in the house, so we could contact the very helpful housekeeper who found quickly a solution for our problem. THE OWNERS HAVE ENTERED THE WRONG DATES so SO THE CODE STOPPED WORKING 24h TOO EARLY! We were really upset because we came back from snorkeling just at 10.30 a.m. Imagine if we had come back 30 minutes later. We would have found ourselfs locked out with nothing more on us than bathsuits and snorkel gear. Our conclusion: We recommend the place and would rent it again as it really is a wonderful place. But for the price one pays (equivalent to a room at a five star hotel) I expect a far better service. We strongly hope that in the future the owners will read their mails more carefully and treat their clients with more attention and friendliness.
