My top choice of places to stay on Maui

5 of 5
Every time I travel to Paia going forward, I would love to stay at this cottage in Paia. It is perfectly sized for two, and could certainly hold four comfortably. The downstairs living area afforded us everything we could need – a great living area complete with desk and wifi, a charming and well-stocked kitchen where we prepared many meals and could easily store all our groceries, great closet space, a clean and well-appointed bathroom, an idyllic outdoor shower, and a washer and dryer. The upstairs bedroom is spacious and had a great sitting area which gave the living area a run for its money in terms of where we wanted to spend our reading time. The whole house had many windows which created steady circulation, the perfect way to stay cool in gorgeous Maui impeding on the ambiance with the buzz of an A/C unit. For outdoor activities, Paia is hard to beat. The cottage was stocked with kayaks and paddleboards, of which we were able to take advantage at the nearby beach. The location of the house also afforded us the ability to walk to the beach and anywhere in Paia town, and to make a short hop over to Kahului where we took kiteboarding lessons with highly-skilled, patient and motivating instructors. One of our favorite adventures was our bike ride: we rented bikes from Maui Cyclery and cycled from our front door around the bottom of the West Maui Mountains to Lahaina and back; the ride was gorgeous and I felt safe the entire time. Most importantly, Karen, the owner, is highly responsive and extremely easy with whom to work. She clearly cares about her guests, and made sure we were taken care of while we were there. I would have loved to meet her in person but unfortunately our time in Paia did not overlap with her and her family’s time there. Without a doubt, this is the place I would choose to stay any time I am in Paia. If you are into the active, outdoor lifestyle, or if you want to lounge around on the beach, this is the place for you. Thank you, Karen, for being a fantastic, thoughtful host. We are already looking forward to our next visit!

exceptional !!!

I don't use VRBO too often because it protects the owners but not the renters. I have my own way of weeding out unrealistic, outright neurotic and arrogant owners and it has been always good. This one was exceptional. Most houses don't really resemble the photos for some odd reason. This one was better than the photos. We stayed from May 1 thru 17th and the owner and the manager were full of INTEGRITY, rare trait among people who are in it for the money. These people were in it to truly make your life easier and happier. Also, I left my laundry in the dryer one day and the manager had ironed my blouse !!! The house was clean, simply and artistically decorated. I like the clean look of the marble tops. I am so glad I didn't book anything in Haiku because it is simply too far from anything. We were close to town and Mama's fish house (although we stopped going there because they have over cooked our fish numerous times even when we beg them not to). It was very quiet, perfect for meditation/prayer. My favorite view was the bamboo trees !!!!!!!!!!!! The manager responds at the speed of light (no kidding !)

Comfortable and quiet

5 of 5
I stayed in the other studio the first part of my trip, then stayed in this studio the latter part of my trip to Maui. This studio has more room... but still just as comfortable and private. The place has everything you may need and close to Paia town and beaches. I want to thank Ana again for making my stay so easy and worry free. I will never forget this place and would stay again and again!!! Aloha!!!
