comfortable house convenient to Volcanoes and Hilo

5 of 5
We chose this house in Pahoa for the location and price. Although there were just two of us, the 3-bdrm/2 bath house would be comfortable for 6. The great room(living room, dining area, seating at kitchen island/kitchen is large and there is a washer/dryer on the carport. The kitchen is well appointed for cooking, WIFI works well, good breeze with open windows and floor/tabletop fans for each bedroom. Unfortunately, we experienced a power outage(due to high winds/downed trees) two of our three days there so we didn't get to take full advantage of anything electrical. We were thrifty with the hot water and still had warm showers and recharged phones/kindle/camera in car. The next door neighbor was kind to offer to charge electronics(he had a generator) and use of his outdoor grill. Since we were out most of each day, the power outage was a minimal impact. Contacted the owner just so he was aware for next renters as the outage was predicted to be days(maybe a week) and I know he was working to find alternate arrangements for them. We visited the Tropical Gardens, Lyman Museum, Hilo Farmer's Market, Volcanoes National Park. Since the power was out in Pahoa, some restaurants were closed but we ordered take-out pizza from The Black Rock Cafe which was good, ate great burgers and local beer at the Burger Joint in Hilo, also had a good meal at Pesto Cafe in Hilo. I would recommend this to others for a clean, roomy and affordable base to explore this region of the Big Island.

Relaxing Home!

5 of 5
Just wonderful, it was all we expected it to be! It was so quiet and breezy, just what we wanted. The owners/caretaker was top notch. And that view! The grounds were just wonderful and the view to the ocean made our mornings and evenings. The bed was very comfortable, and I don’t know about you all reading this, but to us that is about the most important thing in a rental. If you don’t get good nights sleep, how can you enjoy your days? My misfit shine (fitness tracker) registered more deep sleep for me while I was here than it ever had! We have stayed in some places where there was so much decoration you can’t really function or think, HA. But not here, the place was decorated perfectly, with just the right amount of everything. Though I think for two people 3 towels each is best instead of two each we got and more washcloths 1 for each day. So minor though. Thanks to this place we now know how we will design our shower when we build on our land there! We loved that huge walk in shower with no door. Living on solar was no problem at all! You get creative without a microwave  plenty of lighting and fans…you guys did a good job on that house.

A Stay in Paradise

5 of 5
Thank you Gary for providing us a beautiful retreat in a beautiful location. The house was elegant, tastefully decorated, and very comfortable. The bathroom was luxurious with granite countertops and was very spacious. The bed was extremely comfortable and the whole unit was clean and tidy. Our favorite part was the porch that overlooked the water. We enjoyed our Kona coffee while watching all the beautiful birds eating their breakfast from the bird feeder right in front of the porch. Thank you again for a wonderful stay!
