Perfect!

5 of 5
This house is relaxing. It is close to town and the world class snorkeling of the Puna region. We had a really happy, chill time here. The yard is so cute and well manicured. The inside is inviting, well-stocked, and peaceful. If you want to really unwind - this is a great place to do it. The town of Pahoa is also a nice place to get into a true Hawaii vibe. All in all - just a great experience, excellent location, and really helpful owner.

Very happy with the property.

5 of 5
The property was exactly as described with everything in good condition. The bed is comfortable, the furnishings solid, comfortable, and lovely. The solid teak furniture on the lanai made for comfortable outdoor naps. Mornings were perfect with the 2 wicker chairs on the deck (lanai) just outside the bedroom for the perfect place to greet the day as you watch the sun rise. I was worried that the bugs might be a problem and that the lack of "regular" power might be an issue. Neither proved to be the case. For whatever reason, we had a few bug bites the first night but that was it, even when we spent our evenings lying out on the lanai gazing at the galaxies - definitely one of the highlights of this location. Because there is a back up power generator, there is no lack of power, though I don't think it even came on very much. Upon arrival there were beautiful floral arrangements in both the kitchen and the bathroom. Everything was wonderfully clean except the french press coffee maker which had not been emptied. This was clearly an over site but was not representative of how we found everything else. There were plenty of towels, a handy clothes horse as well as a clothes line. There are games and candles and the owners even thoughtfully provide flashlights and an umbrella. The location is perfect for exploring the Hilo side of the island, it is about 10 minutes from Pahoa for groceries (expensive) and gas (cheap). The farmers market in Hilo is fantastic with all manner of fruits and vegetables, many organic and more importantly, at the best prices we encountered on the island. The warm pool, located a couple of miles away on Red Road (HWY 137) is the perfect way to start the day - it opens at 7:00 am. Walking, running or driving the Red Road to where it dead ends in Kalapano is an absolutely gorgeous path. The snorkeling ponds are also close by and Volcano National Park and Hilo are both less than 45 minutes from the house. The Waimea Valley is about an hour and a half from the house and definitely worth the drive. The quiet and privacy, while still being easily accessible are what sets this property apart, as is the charm of the house itself. The owners, Jeff and Arvin provided helpful information and promptly returned our damage deposit. About the only suggestions I would make would be to add a dresser to the bedroom and provide a Melita coffee filter for those who want pour- over coffee. Thanks for a great stay! Janiese & David

A rare treat

5 of 5
This place has to be seen to be comprehended. I was really impressed by how meticulously the house is constructed; not a single detail was overlooked. It's also decorated and arranged with incredbly good taste. The queen size bed faces to the southeast towards two oversized sliding glass doors, offering a broad view of untouched jungle to wake up to. Facing east provides a panoramic view of the ocean. This is truly one of my favorite places on earth, and I have no doubt that I'll be coming back. Bob and Andy were very helpful and accomodating as I made my reservation on short notice. The abundance of fresh fruit in the kitchen on my arrival was an especially nice touch. I feel that I got much more than I paid for.
