Great for children

5 of 5
The place was great for children of all ages, familes, couples. There are 3 houses that share the backyard, but we had no other guests there for any length of time. The beach is private, so we had the whole place to our selves most days. There is little beach at high tide, but enuf to play in. The area right behind the house is great for swimming with mostly sandy bottom. A little farther down it gets rocky. The house was nice and comfortable. The house also shares driveways with some other houses, but they were quiet. We didn't hear anything or have any issues. Martha is a dream. We want her to join our family. The house is a long way (24 miles) to any larger cities. There are plenty of grocery stores and such in the area, but you are a bit isolated on the rainy side. Turle Bay had an awesome lagoon; Koolina on the other side was an hour away and a great place on a cloudy day. Honolulu is 45 minutes to an hour. Kailua Bay is about an hour. So, we loved the place. It was perfect for our 1 YO and 3YO grandkids and families. Thanks!

Perfect Location

5 of 5
The house could not have been more charming and the picture of what I envision true North Shore living to be about. The location was absolutely spectacular. The outdoor space and lawn were beautifully maintained and was right on the beach. There are plenty of surfboards and beach equipment and if you tire of the beach, historic Haleiwa is only a 5 minute drive away. Gorgeous uncrowded beach where we saw sea turtles napping.

Perfect for a Peaceful Getaway

5 of 5
Like the title says, it is a perfect place for a getaway. The owner and property managers were very friendly and answered inquiries quickly. The property managers, Martha and Keld, were nice and very helpful. We stayed in the little studio apartment (there are two other properties managed by Matha and Keld) which was perfect for the two of us. The place was clean and looked to be recently renovated and very recently painted. The building itself looked to be built in about the 1980s but the renovations brought it up to date. Sunrises are absolutely amazing...we found ourselves turning in early each evening so that we could see them! Grocery store within about a mile....ask Martha for the grocery card to save some $. Kitchen is fully equipped with everything a couple would need - we actually ate in most evenings, sitting on the porch, looking at the ocean. La'ie is very quiet, about an hour drive from HNL but a world away from Honolulu. Plenty to see within an hour drive up the North Shore...whale watching, Dole Plantation, snorkeling at Turtle Bay, surfer watching at the Pipeline, etc. Even though this was right across the street from the Polynesian Culture Center, we had no problems with noise or traffic during our entire stay. I would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting a nice, reasonably priced, quiet place to stay and see the real Hawai'i with a much different flavor than the 'big city, big resort' feel of Honolulu.
