Tranquillity and Peace

5 of 5
This little cottage is without a doubt the most tranquil and lovely spot I have stayed at in Hawaii. I've rented six different VRBO houses, one on Molokai and on the other Islands. And, while I've loved those vacations, this was absolutely the loveliest setting with wonderful 'neighbors' far enough away from the residence so if you wanted to, you could go days without seeing another person. Lovely seclusion at the beach too. We took the kayaks out at dawn in the peace and watched the sun rise up from the ocean. The beach and reef are awesome, and the snorkeling we were discovering at the end was the best we had seen at Molokai. Straight out and to the left before the breakers. We even saw a little seahorse on our trip back in. Lovely waters. If you love peace, and want a place to recharge your 'batteries'... a retreat.. this is the place for you. It is an adventure, too, with the fresh fruit and fish that James and Lauren share with the cottage tenant... and be sure to ask James to get some fresh shrimp for you if you like it... the best I have ever had.

Charming Cottage Perfect Location

5 of 5
We so enjoyed staying here. The cottage is well located 1 1/2 miles from Kaunakakai and between Molokai Shores and Hotel Molokai. It is on an ancient Hawaiian Fishpond - a sacred site. The house is very nice indeed with lovely views and beautifully maintained gardens. The neighbours and groundspeople are very friendly, in fact everyone on Molokai is friendly and you will soon know people by their first names. The owner is very pleasant and helpful. You will need a car or if you are fit a bicycle to get around as it is a 25 minute drive or 1 hour cycle (on gorgeous coastline) to the East End Beaches (20 Mile Beach etc) and 50 minute drive or 2 hour cycle to the amazing Halawa. It is better to be near Kaunakakai as it is close to all the shops and restaurants - and there are some good ones - the Pizza Cafe, Elsa's, The Store House, The Cookhouse and Coffees of Hawaii; the pub is also not bad, and Hotel Molokai is fun at the Aloha Friday jam...There is a new restaurant opening there in Feb 2015. We loved Molokai and look forward to returning :)
