Can You Say AMAZZZIIIIIINNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGG?

5 of 5
We stayed in the Octagon Studio. This place was everything you can ever imagine. I felt honored about how great of a choice we made, especially after speaking to people on the island who stayed in the "regular" hotels/resorts. Initially upon arriving, we kept hearing "Makawao? You are staying where? You have a hotel in Makawao? Apparently because this side of town is considered "Upcountry" and its on a totally different side than the "Hotel Zone." Let me give you a rundown of our experience. Just as I mentioned, this here place is on a different side of town so I would just be very cognizant of the activities you plan and their location. A prime example is activities in Lahaina. This is in Maui but it is literally an hour away. We only went there twice for the mall (to walk the strip) which you only need to do once, and for a cruise. I would make that trip on that side of town five more times and still wouldn't change my mind about where we stayed. There are also tons of places in the area which are close as well. There is a long winding road before you get to the Aromatherapy Foundation that took 7 minutes to drive up alone. Once you get there you feel like you are in your own little town. The studio itself was on a property with two other buildings but it surely didn't feel like it. We felt as if we were completely alone. A beautiful ambiance. Not to mention the continuous aromatic smells. We were also so high up that we could see two sides of the island as we stood outside of our studio. Something that obviously can’t be changed would probably be preferred is a ramp. We had a bit of a hard time getting our bags up and down those stairs. I could also imaging how tough it would be for someone who is in a wheel chair. Though we were able to manage all the steps. Just a thought, not a downfall. I had a great concern before coming about the size of the studio. Super concerned that it would be too small. . . . I was wrong. It was perfect. Everything was so clean. The shower gave you that perfect feeling. Even though you were inside, you could keep the curtain open and see the trees, the flowers and watch the sunrise. The bed must have been made out of cotton, because it was softer than soft. The mini porch balcony overlooking the garden was definitely used. It was so calm and peaceful. The only thing I would recommend is a microwave. I must be programmed with this new generation, but I sure would have enjoyed being able to warm up my food from "Da Kitchen."

Great Maui Vacation Home

5 of 5
I can’t describe any better than the previous posts of how great the view from the deck really is- a total view of West Maui, 2 oceans, clouds, airport landings, sunset, etc. We saw a photograph in a shop in Maui that I swear was taken from this deck. Really! The landscaping in the back is the most relaxing, well maintained of any property I have stayed in. The indirect lighting and comfortable seating in the main room also make for a relaxing evening. If you’re a runner, bring your hill legs. The house is at the top, so most paths will lead downhill. There is a golf course a mile from the house that provides some nice streets to run. Traffic is not a problem in the neighborhood. Just remember you are downhill from the house. The house location provides great access to all of Maui- Hana highway, Haleakala volcano, Paia, Lahaina, Kahului airport. You can see most every destination from the deck. We had the special experience of seeing the lunar eclipse on October 8 from the deck; clear sky and perfect viewing. Watching the cloud formations and weather over West Maui and airport landings was always a relaxing end to the day. We noticed that all lights and most appliances were on timer switches. I found that interesting until I checked on electric rates in Maui. I get it now; please be respectful of the electric rates. Two day a week trash pickup is nice, if you have a larger group. If you get to the Ulupalakua Ranch store before 3pm, you can have their well known Elk Burger. There is also the Maui Winery across the street for a bottle of wine with lunch. But if you really want to have a wonderful quiet dinner, the Kula Bistro on Lower Kula road is the place. The food was some of the best we had on Maui and across the street you can find wine to bring over with dinner; no corkage fee. Of course we had dinner at Mama’s Fish House; I would say best on the island, but this was just our first trip . If beer is more your passion, Maui Brewing Company in Lahaina will not disappoint you. They have one of the best on tap selections I have seen. If the growler (that our group left) is not at the house, buy one to bring home. Bottom line, if I ever have the chance to return to Maui, this is my first place to stay!

Loved the Cottage!

5 of 5
We stayed for a week at the Romantic Cottage and it was just that. The views were breathtaking and ever changing throughout the day and eve especially with the full moon in the mix. It was like watching a slow motion movie. The cottage had everything we could want and more. It was great to retreat back to the mountain after a day away, knowing that were had the peace and quietude that we wanted without the masses of the more frequented places on the island. Loved the garden and the aromas that were in the air and the use of the diffuser with the oils was quite lovely. We experimented every day with 1 or more oils and are using the hydra sol from the distillery demo we now have on a daily basis. Tom, Doreena and the rest of the staff were great. Loved our massages too. Thank you for creating this beautiful space for us to experience.
