Perfect for a Peaceful Getaway

5 of 5
Like the title says, it is a perfect place for a getaway. The owner and property managers were very friendly and answered inquiries quickly. The property managers, Martha and Keld, were nice and very helpful. We stayed in the little studio apartment (there are two other properties managed by Matha and Keld) which was perfect for the two of us. The place was clean and looked to be recently renovated and very recently painted. The building itself looked to be built in about the 1980s but the renovations brought it up to date. Sunrises are absolutely amazing...we found ourselves turning in early each evening so that we could see them! Grocery store within about a mile....ask Martha for the grocery card to save some $. Kitchen is fully equipped with everything a couple would need - we actually ate in most evenings, sitting on the porch, looking at the ocean. La'ie is very quiet, about an hour drive from HNL but a world away from Honolulu. Plenty to see within an hour drive up the North Shore...whale watching, Dole Plantation, snorkeling at Turtle Bay, surfer watching at the Pipeline, etc. Even though this was right across the street from the Polynesian Culture Center, we had no problems with noise or traffic during our entire stay. I would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting a nice, reasonably priced, quiet place to stay and see the real Hawai'i with a much different flavor than the 'big city, big resort' feel of Honolulu.

Great beach and great house for kids

4 of 5
We stayed for three nights. The house is old, but it has everything you need and is very clean. (well, it could offer a few additions such as additional toilet paper, a bottle opener, an extra beach towels) but if you're a laid back family or group of friends who doesn't care about granite counter tops, this place is really good. The beach is gorgeous and very safe for kids, even little ones. Its an easy walk to fruit stands, shopping, etc, plus Dusty, the caretaker is super helpful, if, for example, the house blows a fuse or the cable tv goes out. It's also right down the street from the Polynesian Cultural Center which is a great rainy day activity for kids.

Relaxing in Paradise

4 of 5
Everything about the house was as advertised. We had 2 couples staying here and it worked out perfectly. I cannot speak to the 3rd bedroom since we didn't use it. The property was a little older so it is in need of a few updates, but everything was functional. It had a cottage type feel to it. Rooms were spacious with an open concept kitchen/living room dining area. However, the highlight was the deck and view. Just beautiful. Great place to take in the beauty of Oahu. With binoculars we could watch some surfers and spot a few spouting humpbacks. There's a working outside shower which was nice to get some of the sand off after a day at the beach. We also utilized the spa at night to relax. The location overall worked well for us as we went off to different parts of the island and the north shore. We made the couple hundred yard walk to Laie Point to watch the sunrise. A highlight of the house location. It was also very good working with the owner. Very responsive and accommodating to my questions.
