Amazing Vacation Rental

5 of 5
We are a family from British Columbia, Canada. We had four adults and one 19 month baby and stayed Apr 1-16/2015. I cannot rave enough about our experience with the house, Evone and Jerry. Both Evone and Jerry were very helpful when I had any questions or concerns. The staff at the security office was very friendly as well. The instructions and directions sent to us for our arrival were dead on and the house was extremely easy to find from the airport! Because we were travelling with a baby they arranged for a crib, highchair and booster seat to be at the house so we didn't have to rent or bring our own. The house was in great shape, considering its age. I am a clean fanatic and I found the cleanliness of the house to be pretty good. The house came with some pool toys that my daughter really enjoyed. We found that between the fans and the windows being open the breeze was nice and refreshing with no need for the air conditioning (even though the temp was 28-30 degrees celsius the entire time we were there). Some window coverings would have been nice especially in the bedrooms. The pool was amazing and the views are to die for. The kitchen was very nice. There are a couple sets of stairs only 2-3 stairs per set, my baby has always been blocked from stairs at home but she mastered going up and down the stairs very well while we were there and I wasn't worried about her being around them at all. The light switches were somewhat confusing but after a couple days we were able to figure them out and they also left a book how to use them for people who have issues with them. The house is bright and beautiful when you walk in. If we return to Kona we would most definitely stay at this house again without hesitation. Checkout was suppose to be at 10am and our flight wasn't leaving until 9pm, I contacted Evone about a later checkout, she was so helpful and understanding. The house is very close to restaurants, downtown shopping, grocery store, beaches, pharmacy, etc... We went to Hilo (about 1.45 hours from house) and did the Helicopter tour over the volcano which was amazing, we went to the seahorse farm (super cool) and to the zoo (which my baby loved). The grounds crew and pool cleaner were super friendly and didn't cause any disruption when they came. Staying at a house verse a condo or hotel (especially with a baby) was so relaxing and fun, couldn't have asked for a better holiday. Thank you Jerry, Evone and everyone else for contributing to an amazing vacation

5 Stars Is Not Enough

This is going to be a rave review, just want to warn you right from the start! If you are looking for hospitality, comfort, luxury, affordability and accessibility than look no further. Our family of 6 enjoyed such a fantastic week staying here toward the end of March 2015. Susan and Walt have a beautiful vacation home and we are so grateful that they decided to share it and not move in permanently themselves, (which is what we would have done.) From the stunning ocean views, to the wonderful decorating lines, the most comfortable beds and best walk-in showers ever, we just were blown away every day. The Big Island is the most visually stunning and our favorite place that we have traveled to, thus far. If you are trying to decide between islands, this is a winner. We highly recommend taking a day to visit the green and black sand beaches. They are amazing to see. Have you ever been off-roading with your parents? You should try it for a hilariously bone jostling, but extremely enjoyable time! It's an experience not to be missed! We also enjoyed fabulous dining from the Lava Java Cafe in town, to the exquisite Four Seasons dinner at sunset. The little beaches along the roadside are not always marked well but are such a treat. Susan was so kind with her availability and gave us directions on how to find these little gems. Every beach is unique and quite possibly, more amazing than the last one you visit. Our family believes in and is privileged to have personal relationships with The Great Creator, the Lord Jesus. The Gospels state, "What manner of Man is this, that the winds and waves obey Him? God created everything through Him, all things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made." We certainly experienced that and were awed by His presence and beauty on this island and look forward to returning in the near future! Mahalo Susan and Walt!

Wonderful vacation home!

5 of 5
We stayed at this house for a week, along with our daughter, son-in-law and two year old grandson who joined us for five days, and we all had a great time! There was plenty of room and everything we needed. The owner has thought of every detail. The kitchen is very well equipped with the washer and dryer right around the corner next to the half bath. The two upper bedrooms have their own shared full bath. You can carry your coffee cup out onto the lanai in the morning and watch the ocean and the friendly geckos who come to visit. The lower lanai is great for evenings watching the sunset or having dinner. My husband and I stayed in the downstairs bedroom, which has its own full bath, and the other two stayed in the upstairs two bedrooms with their little boy (who used the Pac n Play). At night we plugged the camera into the TV and looked at the day's pictures. The house is convenient driving distance to many beaches, Volcanoes National Park, South Point and the City of Refuge. You can even take a day trip to Hilo without too much trouble, so you can use Captain Cook as a base for seeing most of the island.
