My husband, our two adult daughters and their partners just returned from our stay at this beautiful home near Keauhou Bay on the Big Island and we couldn't have been happier with this home. The photos do not do it justice. It is beautiful, bright and clean. The owner has furnished the home with interesting, island-style furniture and it has immaculate wood floors. The Keauhou Bay location, on the southern end of the Kailua-Kona area, made southern activities such as the Volcano Park and the Kona area snorkeling beaches easily accessible.
Our party consisted of three adult couples with three men 6'4" +, so finding a property that could accommodate our needs for three queen-size+ beds was tricky. The owner, Kristine, was very helpful regarding our needs, both prior to booking and then helping us settle in with information about grocery stores, etc.
One reason we chose this home was the private pool and we were not disappointed. After a day at Two-Step or Capt. Cook snorkeling, or a drive to Volcano Nat'l. Park, coming home to a cool, relaxing swim was heaven!
The house, pool and yard were all very clean and well-maintained. The deck around the pool had two dining tables, several chaises, and plenty of chairs. We ate most meals out on the deck and it was very private and quiet. There is an jungle-like open space off the deck which was the home to colorful birds and we enjoyed bird watching too.
My son-in-law is an excellent cook and the kitchen was very important to us. Both the kitchen and the outdoor gas grill are well-maintained and supplied.
The owner thoughtfully supplied laundry detergent for towel washing, which we did plenty of.
The home is a five-minute walk from Keauhou Bay, which is the take-off point for several ocean activities. We walked down to the Bay to catch our Zodiac ride to the Capt Cook Monument for snorkeling. There is also a paddle board and kayak rental business there. Also down the street is a small black sand beach which is very beautiful.
We would not hesitate to recommend this home to anyone. I only hope we can return to it someday! Thanks, Kristine, for a great trip.
