I really can't say enough about this wonderful home or the awesome folks who shared it with us.
We've never had an experience like it. From waking up in the morning and having breakfast on the lanai overlooking Kailua Kona, to BBQ in the evening watching gorgeous sunsets. I don't think there's anything I would have changed.
The house and all amenities are well thought-out and top quality. The great room opens completely to the phenomenal view (I'm running out of superlatives) and has a full screen to keep out the Island life drawn to the lights at night.
The kitchen is well appointed and the beds are a dream to sleep on.
The house is a very easy couple minutes drive from the center of everything and perfectly situated overlooking Kona, cooled by the nearly constant gentle breeze which keeps it comfortable even when Kona is sweltering.
Jump in the car and within five minutes we were sipping mochas waterside at Island Lava Java and shopping at Jack's Diving Locker. There's a Safeway even closer, and Island Naturals, which caters to those who prefer health foods and organics isn't much further.
Our hosts, Sue and Walt were a pleasure to deal with and were nearby, eager to make sure we were happy and had everything we needed. They are wonderful folks you'll want as friends the moment you meet them.
I always worry when choosing a place to stay on vacation. It's a big decision and you can't know if it will live up to the photos and descriptions. I can tell you, without reservation, this is the best place we've ever stayed. Everyone in my family was thrilled and will always remember this vacation.
Thank you, Sue and Walt, for building such a comfortable and enjoyable place to stay, and for sharing it with us.
We hope to come stay in the Sunset Hale again. (In fact, I spent some time wondering if there wasn't some way we could just stay there forever.)
