Big Island Paradise.

5 of 5
What can I say? We had the most wonderful time at this home, a memory that will last us a lifetime. We were looking for a quiet home to spend a week of relaxing, something in a quiet neighborhood but close enough to island activities so that we didn't spend hours in the car getting to all of those special places. The location of this home is perfect. Close to the town and all the shopping needed or wanted on the big island, restaurants and beaches. It is the perfect location for all of the before mentioned. When we arrived at the home we were delighted to find the caretaker on premise to answer any and all questions we might have. She was a charming lady who took care to notice the make up of our group and point out the special things available to each of us. The home owner has taken care to provide pack and plays for children, high chairs, strollers and even baby gates - all of which were important to us. In addition she has provided separate beach toys/accessories in the garage including beach shoes, towels, toys, beach chairs, beach umbrellas and snorkeling equipment for a number of people. We lacked for nothing!!! In addition she provided in the pool room toys for the pool as well including floaties, baby rings, noodles, etc. The pool was heated by solar and so comfortable in temperature that we could swim any time of day or night and found the temp to be perfect for whatever time we chose to swim. The kitchen(s) is (are) supplied with absolutely every appliance and utensil one could possible ask for. The abundant supply of dishes, pots and pans, glasses etc. were amazing. The bedrooms (4) all have towels, both beach and bath, for all staying in the rooms. There are TV's in each of the bedrooms (although we didn't spend time watching much tv) with cable for each and internet access both inside and outside out side the house. All in all it was one of our best vacations ever, not only because the weather was perfect, but primarily because of all the amenities this properties has to offer. I would recommend it to all.

`Ohana Lanui Lani (Family Holiday Heaven)

5 of 5
Everything that is described about this home is exactly how it is,and more.We were so happy for our 2 week stay that I never wanted to leave.Originally we planned on 8 of us,ended up being 4 adults and a toddler for one week.Lots of room.We grilled every day and dined outside for every meal. The pool was perfect in the morning for sunning and coffee and the afternoon for a shady nap:) The location is perfect for getting downtown to Alli Drive(5 min) north or south for snorkeling and beaches, Safeway is a block away tho you will be wise to get a Costco card and stock up there.Gas is 80 cents a gallon cheaper than anywhere. We went to the Farmer's Mkt every other day for fruit and greens...avocados!!! The house sits at the top of a gated community, we never used the AC,as we had beautiful breeze all the time. It's peaceful, the view is breathtaking of sunrise and sunset. I am home now in frigid Alaska and missing Hawaii and our home away from home...:) Thank you Bhavesh for your hospitality and wonderful customer service throughout our stay. Were planning our return in 2016!! Happy New Year!

A very Mele Kalikimaka at Mala a Kai!

5 of 5
This is the first VRBO home I have ever rented, and I was so pleased with all the wonderful amenities! I booked this for a family Christmas vacation, with myself, my husband, our three children, (age 17, 17, 10) and my parents. My parents enjoyed their own suite with private bathroom, and stunning views. I packed the kids' stockings, hoping to make Hawaii feel like our Alaska Christmas', and arrived at Mala a Kai to find the owners had lovingly decorated the entire house with wreaths, a Christmas tree, dishes and linens just for us! We had a wonderful Christmas, and my daughter slept under the tree the entire stay. The location is peaceful, with no neighbors able to see in your home. The view from the lanai was relaxing. We saw wild goats, birds, and geckos. We saved money not eating out, and cooked on the BBQ almost nightly. Our kids loved how close Pebble Beach was, and I loved relaxing. The snorkeling was wonderful, and we appreciated using the owners beach equipment! Troy and Mary have truly thought of everything! We appreciated the book of recommended sites/vendors to use, and the list of open air markets. I recommend this location because it is close to Kona to access shopping, the harbor, and other excursions. If you must have the nightlife, and be free of driving...stay in Kona. If you are looking for a relaxing, "people-free" environment without ambient noise, stay at Mala a Kai! We loved it and plan on coming back someday! For first time VRBO users, make sure you disclose the number of people who intend to stay at the unit with you. I didn't know that the price is set by how many occupants plan to stay, and that makes sense considering water has to be delivered to this area and utilities increase with the # of people using. This may seem like common sense, unless you're like me, who is used to a private well and unlimited water.
