Hale Lana gets our highest rating of the 8 properties we stayed at this year. For starters, everything in it looks brand new. Furnishings are upscale yet practical. For example, the super-clean kitchen is equipped with complete high-end cookware and equipment -- no random jumble of second-hand, mis-matched or worn items here. The space is wrapped with sliding glass doors and almost 360 degrees of lanai. The ocean can be seen from the lanai and is a short walk from the house (3 blocks). In the instructions for the house is the location of another "secret" sandy swimming beach, which is not otherwise easy to find in this area. You will have complete privacy here. Owners seem low-key and live elsewhere on the island but are available if needed. Beautiful lush palm trees block views of neighboring properties, and create gorgeous filtered light. The bathroom tub is a 2-person jacuzzi which I view as another gesture of generosity on the part of the owners. It seems like they thought of everything, from creating a truly serene ambiance to a great collection beach gear, and I recommend it without reservation. There is a ground-floor rental beneath you but we didn't realize it was occupied until the day they packed up to leave. There is adequate off-street parking within the walled and gated perimeter. There are no noise, traffic or insect problems here. It is better than advertised.
