Wonderful place to stay!

5 of 5
We stayed here a week on our honeymoon, and it was wonderful. We were greeted by a sky full of stars, could see the Milky Way and hear ocean sounds. A wonderful view surrounded by tropical plantings. Good location for visiting the Volcanic National Park. Do a helicopter ride if you can. Definitely rent a 4WD and get out onto some of the less travelled roads to see jungle-like growth and lava fields. This is a very special vacation home. Comfortable. A bit hard to find in the dark and a fair drive to restaurants and groceries but well worth it. Romantic.

Definition of Relaxation in Paradise

5 of 5
My girlfriend and I are in our late 20's and were just looking for a place to rest our heads as we explored the Hilo side of the island. We booked this rental with that in mind, not planning on spending much time there after reading the many reviews from older couples saying how perfect it was for them (nothing from young occupants). Once we arrived and dropped our stuff down, we found ourselves cancelling plans so we could spend more time at the house! The view out of the back porch is nothing short of stunning - breathtaking even. Crystallized lava starts at the back patio and ends at a cliff-like dropoff into the open ocean no more than 25 yards from the house. The master bedroom has giant sliding glass doors that look directly out onto this gorgeous view, we left them open to hear the hypnotic sound of waves crashing as we fell asleep/woke up (highly suggested). The sun rises on this side of the island so wake up early to catch it or be prepared to wake up early with all the light shining in. We ended up cooking both nights we were there having picked up food from a local grocery no more than 10 or so miles away. We made use of the great back patio / grill setup to make it happen. The kitchen also had all of the pots/pans/utensils necessary which was nice to find. Inside the house everything was in great condition and looks more or less exactly like the pictures on the listing. There are 4 or 5 total bedrooms, and though we only used 1 we vowed to try and come back at some point with a group of friends as it would be the perfect location/setup for a couples retreat (or group getaway in general). As you can tell from the post I couldn't recommend this place more highly, our stay was picture perfect. Icing on the cake is that Alfreda (the owner) is a pleasure to work with along the way.

Ua Mau Ka Ea O Ka 'Aina

This is a beautiful setting, a house thoughtfully and tastefully set up for a wonderful time in Paradise and Paradise Park. Access to the beach, grounds replete with flowers and fruit, safe, secluded; yet with easy access to Hilo and its rich history, culture and indigenous flavors, A visit here is not complete without paying respects to Pele at nearby Volcanoes National Park for breathtaking views of a live volcano, walks either easy or challenging through moonscape craters, lava flows, forests and sulfur steam vents (say hello to the wandering Nene). The visitor center in he National Park has substance rather than kitsch and enjoy probably my favorite gallery in all of Hawaii -- the Volcano Art Center (VAC). And, oh, the rainbows and turtles lollygagging about on the pehoehoe rocks! Get a sense of Puna region before coming, so you know what to expect. Hale Ipo will then be a place with life-changing powers. Ha -- breath Wai -- life giving water I -- is calling Ke Aloha No Kakou GREAT Love suffuses us here
