Tropical country charm

5 of 5
We are on day 12 of our 17 day stay here at Dan's place and we (myself, husband and 16 year old son) are enjoying it very much. The cottage is small, but utilizes the space very well - kitchen, living room, dining room and home theater all in one room, which is also able to sleep two people on the futon. The kitchen is adequately supplied with dishes, Teflon pots and pans and utensils. The bedroom queen bed is very comfortable - firm but not too firm. We keep the windows open all the time and sleep without the luxury comforter. The night sounds are of gentle rains, crickets and a large frog but no loud coqui frogs because the ducks and chickens eat them. The morning sounds are of roosters, ducks, chickens, and the neighbor's dogs, cow and goat. It took me two days to get used to the roosters, but now I actually sleep better once I start to hear them. Speaking of chickens - right outside the entrance door a chicken lays two organic eggs for you every other day! The bathroom is very nice with granite tile floor, full tub and shower with darkened glass enclosure, full wall mirrors, and funky ceiling and sink lighting. The sink is actually marble with a water fall faucet. The property is on two beautiful, private acres with lots of tropical trees and plants. The palm tree lined driveway is an adventure (ungraded), but having to drive slow for the ducks to get out of the way tones it down. The location is very convenient to Hilo, Kilauea, and lower Puna and is very easy to get to. Dan is a very gracious host and is eager and willing to please in order to make our stay as pleasurable as possible - and it is.

Great Family Gathering Rental at Ohana Haven

5 of 5
Ohana Haven was a great location for our family to stay at to visit both Volcano and Hilo. For our larger group, it worked well to have the separate Hobby House for our children to stay in that gave them space, but was close to the main house. Outdoor space also was nice for outdoor activities. Ohana Haven was clean and well maintained. The owner was very prompt to answer any questions or concerns.

Lovely Hawaii Paradise Home

5 of 5
When you think of Paradise on the Big Island, O'O house is the perfect place to stay. This is a beautiful, comfortable, immaculate and spacious home! This charming Hawaii Paradise Home provides a very peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. My husband and I were delighted when we arrived and entered this home for our vacation! We loved the cleanliness and the decor too. This home is equipped with everything you need, including beach towels, beach chairs, boogie boards, fishing poles and golf clubs. The location was ideal too, close to Hilo, Farmer's Market, hiking trails, and volcano. The Keaau Framer's Market was only a few miles away with fresh vegetables, Hawaiian foods, and goodies. We enjoyed sitting on the front lanai and sipping coffee each morning as we viewed the lovely landscape. We heard the soothing sounds of the ocean, which is only a block away. When you walk outside of the house, turn right, then turn left, and there are trails for hiking or strolls along the ocean shore, very scenic! We visited Rainbow Falls, Akaka Falls, Kolekole Beach Park, Panalu'u Black sand beach, and toured volcano. We swam in the hot springs and went diving in Kapoho. We loved Paolo's Cafe, Hilo Bay Cafe, and Ken's House of Pancakes. This home provides the opportunity to relax and enjoy the beauty of old style Hawaii, without large hotels and crowds. The caretakers on the island were great, very friendly, but did not bother us. We loved the home and we plan on returning next year for more adventure! We recommend this Hawaii Paradise Vacation Home for couples or families that are looking for a great place to stay. Mahalo, Kim & Eric
