DEFINITION OF RELAXATION IN PARADISE

5 of 5
My girlfriend and I are in our late 20's and were just looking for a place to rest our heads as we explored the Hilo side of the island. We booked this rental with that in mind, not planning on spending much time there after reading the many reviews from older couples saying how perfect it was for them (nothing from young occupants). Once we arrived and dropped our stuff down, we found ourselves cancelling plans so we could spend more time at the house! The view out of the back porch is nothing short of stunning - breathtaking even. Crystallized lava starts at the back patio and ends at a cliff-like dropoff into the open ocean no more than 25 yards from the house. The master bedroom has giant sliding glass doors that look directly out onto this gorgeous view, we left them open to hear the hypnotic sound of waves crashing as we fell asleep/woke up (highly suggested). The sun rises on this side of the island so wake up early to catch it or be prepared to wake up early with all the light shining in. We ended up cooking both nights we were there having picked up food from a local grocery no more than 10 or so miles away. We made use of the great back patio / grill setup to make it happen. The kitchen also had all of the pots/pans/utensils necessary which was nice to find. Inside the house everything was in great condition and looks more or less exactly like the pictures on the listing. There are 4 or 5 total bedrooms, and though we only used 1 we vowed to try and come back at some point with a group of friends as it would be the perfect location/setup for a couples retreat (or group getaway in general). As you can tell from the post I couldn't recommend this place more highly, our stay was picture perfect. Icing on the cake is that Alfreda (the owner) is a pleasure to work with along the way.

DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE THE HOUSE

5 of 5
It has actually been almost a year ago now since my husband and I rented this house. A friend of mine just asked for the VRBO number since we have been raving about our stay all year, and I realized I never rated it. The pictures do not do the house justice, it's is a beautiful house, that is obviously well loved. If you pay attention to details, this place offers it all, and will capture you the minute you walk in the front door. Our favorite part of our stay was enjoying cocktails on the deck before sunset and feeling the mist of the ocean sprays. And I absolutely loved the way the shower could open up for an ocean view. We wish we had reserved a day just to stay in the house to enjoy it. Unlike another viewer, we found the location perfect for what we wanted to see and do. The Big Island, is a big island and just about everything is a drive no matter where you stay. There are so many beautiful places to see near the house, you just have to get out and explore, however if Volcano's National Park, the Green Sand Beach or stargazing on Mauna Kea is part of your agenda, this is a perfect location, and by the way, I highly recommend all three!

BEST VRBO RENTAL YET

5 of 5
We stayed for 10 wonderful days and enjoyed the whales everyday and the turtles the pods of dolphins that went by and gave us a show almost everyday. Watching the guys in the water spear fishing and giving us fresh fish was awesome. We had heard that is always rains on the Hilo side well that wasn't the case we only had rain one night . The valcaon at night is a sight to see. Our only complaint is we had to leave. Hope to be back soon. Thanks for sharing your home with us.
