Lovely, quiet and clean

5 of 5
We loved staying in this quiet and lovely home. The view from the lanai is great. This is a clean, comfortable home. Don't miss the Farmers Market in Naalahu on Wednesday morning. It is great. Nancy

Charming condo by the sea

5 of 5
This was a very nice condo from which to explore Volcano National Park, the green sand beach, and South Point. The condo was exactly as advertised, and was actually nicer than the photos would indicate. It is on the small side, but given the time actually spent there and that there was only two of us, it was the right size. The pool is very conveniently located just outside the door, theblack sand beach an easy walk from the condo, and the manager was very pleasant. Be sure to purchase your groceries BEFORE leaving Hilo or it will be a ling drive back. It is even longer if coming from Kona. The only comment I would make is that the directions could be better - both on getting there and while staying there. The driving directions had us looking for a small sign for a public beach, the name of which I do not remember, then going to the next road and turning. It would be much simplier if the driving direction had us turn at the large black rock wall with the name of the condo complex clearly printed in white. That would have saved us from missing the turning and going several miles out of our way after a long day. The directions for use of the condo that were on the table when we arrived conflicted with the directions we received in the mail. We had to clarify several items with the manager to be sure we didn't leave something "ON" that should have been "OFF" and vise versa. These need to be revieweed by the owner and rental company for consistency. Overall, those were pretty minor. The condo was quaint and very well priced for traveling on a budget. I would definitely recommend this place to family and friends visiting Hawaii.

A lovely home in a surreal environment

4 of 5
Bob and Sue have a wonderful home and were very easy to work with. The house is well appointed, well maintained and clean. It's not the Ritz-Carlton, but that's not what I expected nor what I paid for. The pool is a wonderful way to relax after the adventures of the day. We learned that nothing on the Big Island is particularly close, but this is a reasonable distance from the attractions of the southern part of the island (South Point, the Green and Black sand beaches, and is about an hour or so from Volcanoes National Park). The neighborhood is the surreal part. The house is in what was obviously intended as a much bigger development, but us now widely scattered houses in a lave field. The nearest neighbor is hundreds of yards away, and the sense of nothingness as the wind whips across the lava is amazing. The sunsets were fantastic. The private beach mentioned is quite a hike, probably three miles, but my five year old made it and the reward was several hours on a Hawaiian beach without another soul present. Where else can you get that? Mahalo for a wonderful vacation.
