relax and rejuvinate

5 of 5
We live in Kona and had one Monday off, so our friends invited us to stay with them here. It was an easy drive over the new Saddle road, beautiful to see our island. Since we were staying in a fully furnished home, we didn't pack much. When we saw the house, right on its own private natural pool, we thought how impressive it was for the remote area. First order of business was to put on water shoes, swim suits, grab our mask and snorkle. A short walk to kapoho tide pools and quickly we were in the ocean with beautiful fish and unusual coral. It was easy access and calm warm water. Back at the house, beautifully fully furnished and relaxing, we fixed dinner and lingered at the covered outdoor pavilion. We loaded the dishwasher and watched a movie. My husband and I had a bedroom with a private bathroom and 2 sinks. We enjoyed a warm swim in the morning after breakfast in our private tide pool. The location offers more, but we just stayed there until driving back because it's so nice. I suggested that we return to celebrate our 35th anniversary in Nov. or anytime is OK with me.

We have found the one!

5 of 5
My husband and I vacation in Kapoho every summer with our children and we have rented several different homes. We have rented homes both in the gated community with Champagne pond and in the Waiopae area. This rental home by far has been the best. The pond is perfect for children and our children had the most fun at Clearpond Paradise. We loved the beach access through the locked gates which allowed us to enjoy some fishing at the beach. We will be staying at Clearpond Paradise again in the summer. Mahalo, Ka 'Ohana Oshiro

A lovely stay in Puna - Great for families

4 of 5
Just got back! My family of four had a great time staying at this house. Here's a list of the pros: - The huge covered lanai: It adds about 30% more square footage to the house and gave my two boys (7 and 4) the room they needed to stretch out after a long flight and long drive from Kona. I love that it was screened in - kept the house cool and kept the bugs out! - Proximity to the tide pools: I thought the tide pools were kind of neat idea when we booked this house (they're right around the corner). They turned out to be a daily destination. Ahlanui Pond is stone's throw away as well. - House has just about everything you need: Lots and lots of towels (very important), water shoes (we brought our own, but you definitely need for the tide pools because of all the lava rock), kitchen stuff. - Comfy bed in the master: Did wonders for my husband's back - Our own personal pond: The unexpected surprise was that every day the front yard would fill up with when the water tables rose and become a clean pond for a couple of hours. Don't dip in the pond that's in the photos- it looks a little slimy. But the disappearing pond was great and deep enough for the kids to wade and splash around in. Cons: Minor, but here they are- - It's a bit of a drive to get to stores, restaurants, etc. (About 10-15 minutes) Doesn't seem super-long, but if you're used to that stuff being around the corner, it takes getting used to. - The propane tank on the grill was empty, so we didn't get to bbq. Overall, the location was good, the house was big and it was just what we needed.
