Wonderful hosts, wonderful home

5 of 5
We were so happy here. Gail and Red are the warmest, most supportive and understanding hosts imaginable: we had some special needs and they couldn't have been more helpful and thoughtful, and going out of their way to make everything perfect. The house is like a home-away-from-home; so much more welcoming and relaxing than being in a hotel. The decor is personal, tasteful and fun - not a generic bland hotel atmosphere. Everything is well-maintained and well-loved. The rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated, each with its own little lanai or terrace. The kitchen is a small galley kitchen but well-stocked and we were able to cook and entertain. The long covered lanai is a great relaxing, family space and works well for entertaining as well. We loved having the pool as well: the perfect temperature for relaxing and splashing in. It couldn't be better - we hope to come back!

Very Modern Private Little Romantic Hideaway!

5 of 5
We needed a place to stay at the last minute and this little hideaway was available. I was a bit taken back by the description as "shack", but the availability and price were right. What a nice surprise to find this little "cabin", as I prefer, to be very new and modern. It's just the right size for two with your carry on bags. I agree, larger luggage would be a challenge for this square footage. The cabin was very cozy and quiet being up on a hill at the rear of the main house. The view from the lanai, through the lush trees, is lovely. The photograph does not do it justice. There is no air conditioner and it is not needed. The cabin is fully shaded under the trees and there is a ceiling fan, but the breezes through the open & screened windows was more than enough to control the temperature for comfort. I enjoyed the large size of the shower; it's built for two. Yes they have WiFi. Getting to the cabin was easy. There are only two things I would note as being a bit of a challenge. Leaving your designated parking space. You must back into a neighboring driveway to get yourself facing back down the one lane roadway. We kept going up the hill to do this, but then we were directed to back down the hill to the closest driveway for getting turned around. The other thing that seemed odd was the connecting wall between the bathroom and the kitchen did not go all the way to the ceiling. There was about a 24 inch space that was open not allowing for full bathroom privacy. However, I have seen this in other little private places were have stayed so it's not uncommon. I give this rental a 5 star rating for it's value as compared to the amenities. I highly recommend this delightful "...little shack under a tree" if you would like a real taste of Hawaii Life. If you want a private romantic hideaway for two or maybe just a cozy quiet place for one; contact the very friendly owners Dan and Ellie.

Paradise for a week!!

5 of 5
Our stay at Java Kai was nothing short of incredible. A beautiful 30-40 minute drive after our 10 hour flight brought us to this gem of a location. The panoramic views cannot be understated. At Java Kai, you are away from it all yet have all the necessities of home. Sunrise each morning should not be missed from the deck. Our kids loved having a baseball catch out on the expansive lawn. I was unsure which part of the island to look for a rental property. After staying at Java Kai, there is no debate. The ocean, the mountains and lush green foliage make the windward side the place to be. I hope this property is available for a return visit in the near future. Thank you for your hospitality.
