Exceptional Experience!

5 of 5
The Shack was perfect for us and exactly what we were looking for in our Hawaii visit. Uncle Dan and Ellie were extremely hospitable, helpful, and accommodating. The description and pictures provided online are extremely accurate. We were wanting a nice spot outside of the hustle bustle of the city, and the Shack provides that plus an incredible view. It was a treat to watch the sun rise in the morning over the bay while we enjoyed our breakfast on the lanai. Most of our time spent at the Shack was after dinner and through breakfast. There is far too much to see and do for visitors to spend their time indoors. Uncle Dan is a long-time resident of Hawaii and a surfer that knows every break on the island. Several times he pointed me to exactly where a beautiful break would be due to the winds of the day. The surf reports could not touch uncle Dan's accuracy! The Shack placed us in perfect proximity to most of the sites and experiences we desired. Tamura's is only a few minutes away and has amazing kimchi and poke (ahi). Kailua is right down the road with a beautiful beach and plenty of restaurants. Our favorite restaurant, Haleiwa Joe's, is just a couple miles away. One item that Uncle Dan disclosed to us was that there was residential construction in process at an adjacent property. While we were there, most workers arrived by 8am and finished around 5pm. This was not a major issue for us as we were typically out and about during those hours. If we were ever to visit again, it is safe to say that we would not hesitate to stay at the Shack again. In all honesty, we did not want to leave. Uncle Dan and Ellie treated us like family. We met almost all their children and bumped into them throughout our ten day stay and always had a pleasant conversation. If you are looking to have your own place with a phenomenal view but still feel like you have family to lean on, the Shack is the place!

Nice relaxed getaway

4 of 5
The property was very nice and pretty much what we thought it would be. There were a few minor problems like the bathroom sink wouldn't drain and the air conditioning was poor especially in the bedroom. Eric and Tricia and daughter were friendly and helpful when we needed them. Overall the stay in Kailua was great. Loved the town and the locals were very friendly. Had a wonderful stay on Oahu and enjoyed ourselves greatly without having to stay in Honolulu or another over populated town.

Absolutely satisfied

5 of 5
Love this place, i stayed for a week and decided to come back for a month. Great location, 2min walk to the beautiful beach; the garden is my favourite, high plants and fence around provide enuf privacy, a tall tree provides shade, the beach is quite windy so i like to sunbath in the garden sometimes; the owner Kate is very friendly and considerate to buy me a cusion for outdoor use and a drying rack in the garden, she also gave me lots of helpful local information; the room is very nicely decorated, it feels bright, warm and sweet, perfect for couples.
